to a novel and simply constructed vanity bei: or case, comprisinga main compartment or chamber adapted to contain a facepowder, or the like, and another compartment or chamber adapted to contain a compact of pink or red rouge, and a closingY member for said latter compartment or chamber, said latter compartment or chamber being' connected with the first-mentioned compartment or chamber by means of a hinge-connection, or the like, to permit of a closing' or nested arrangement of the second-mentioned compartment with the firstinentioned compartment, and the first-mentioned compartment, with the second-mentioned compartment nested therein, being adapted to be closed by means of a lid or cover connected with the main body or shell of the vanity box or case, when not in use, and the said lid or cover being usually provided with a mirror.

In this instance, the auxiliary body or shell consists of a base 34 and surrounding side-wall 35, the said base `being diametrically depressed, as at 36, so as to provide a pair of semi-circular compartments or chambers 37 and 38, opening in opposite directions, substantially shown. Suitably secured within the chamber 37 is an arrangement ot one or more clasps or grasping` members, as 39, for the detachable arrangement in said chamber 37 ot one or more eyebrow or lip-sticks 40. ln the open portion of the other Vchamber 38 is suitably secured a plate 41 or other means of closure, which is provided with an opening 42 adapted to be closed by means o't a slide-plate or disc 43, pivotally connected with the base 34, as at 44.
The said plate or dise 43 is also provided with a suitably formed catch, as 45, adapted to enter into retaining engagement with a catch-member 46 with which the said plate 4l is provided.

Pivotally connected with the hinge 33 is a lid or cover 49, having a marginal flange 50, all arranged for closing the vanity box or case when the various members have been brought into their relative positions shown in Vsaid Figures 7, 8 and 9 of the drawings. As shown, the said lid or cover may have suitably secured therein a mirror, as 5l, and to secure the lid or cover in its closed position, indicated in said Figure 9, the flange 51 is provided with an outwardly pressed lug or projection 52, which is adapted to be brought into frictional holding engagement with the outer surface of the side-wall 35 of the auxiliary body or shell when the latter has been moved into its nested position within the compartment or chamber of the body body or shell.

l am fully aware that changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations ot the various devices and parts, as well as in the details ot the construction of the said parts, without departing trom the scope of the present invention as set for-:th in the `foregoing specification, and as. detined in the clauses of the claims which are appended thereto. Hence, l do not limit my present invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts as described in the said specification, nor do I coniine myself to the exact details of the construction of the said parts, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
I claim l. A vanity box comprising a main chambered body provided with a marginal sidewall, an auxiliary chambered body hinged t0 said side-wall, so as to be moved into a nested relation into said main body, said auxiliary body being provided with a receiving opening, a closing plate slidably connected with said auxiliary body for closing said opening, and a lid or cover hinged to said side-wall, said lid or cover being adapted to be moved over and serving as a closure tor both of said bodies.

A vanity box comprising` a main chambered body provided with a marginal sidewall, an auxiliary chambered body consisting et a base and a surrounding side-wall, a hinge-connection between the side-walls of said bodies for moving said auxiliary body into a nested relation with said main body, a plate provided with a receiving opening in said auxiliary body, and a closing plate slidably mounted upon the plate provided withsaid receiving opening tor closing said opening.

A vanity box comprising a main chambered body provided with a marginal sidewall., an auxiliary chambered body consisting et a base and a surrounding side-wall, a hinge-connection between the side-walls of saidv bodies for moving said auxiliary body into a nested relation with said main body, a plate provided witi a receiving opening in said auxiliary body, a pivot-post upon the plate provided with said receiving opening, a closing plate oscillatorily connected with said pvot-post, and catch-devices connected with said opening-provided plate and the. said closing plate for maintaining said latter plate in its closed position over said receiving opening.

A vanity box comprising a main chaml l (E bered body provided with armarginal sideivall, an auxiliary eliambered body Consisting of a base and a surrounding side-Wall, a. hinge-connection between the side-Walls ot said bodies ior moving said auxiliary body into a nested relation with said main body, a plate provided vitb a receiving opening in said auxiliary body, and a closing plate slidably mounted upon the plate provided with said receiving opening- 'for closing' said opening', combined with a lid or cover7 and a hinge-eonneetion between said lid or Cover and the side-wall ot said main body, for closing` said lid or covern over said main body and the auxiliary body nested in said main body.

A vanity box comprising;` a main chanbered body provided With a marginal sidewall, anY auxiliary eliambered body consisting of a base and a surrounding1 side-Wall, a hinge-connection between the side-Walls ot said bodies tor moving said auxiliary body into a nested relation with said main bot y, a plate provided with a receiving opening in said auxiliary body, and pivot-post uponv the plate provided With said receiving opening, a Closing plate osoillatorily connected with said pivot-post,` and cateh-deviees conneet-ed with said opening-provided plate and the said closing plate 'for maintaining' said latter plate in its closed position over said .receiving opening, combined with a lid or cover, and a hinge-connection between said lid or cover and the side-Wall ot said main body, tor closing said lid or cover-over said main body and the auxiliary body nested in said main body. i

A vanity box comprising a main ehambered body provided With a marginal side- Wall, an auxiliary body comprisinga a side- Wall and a. diametrieally disposed Wall-portion dividing` said auxiliary body into a plul'ality ot' Chambers, saidV auxiliary body being provided in one ot its portions with a receiving opening torv communication with one ot' the chambers of said auxiliary body, and a Closing` plate slidably mounted upon the portion oit the auxiliary body provided with Said receiving opening` for closingsaid opening.
