IMPROVEMENT IN SHlRT-BOSOM SUPPORTERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N0. 147,484, datcd February 17, 1374; application filed December 11, 1873.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, 'lnomts LLOYD DAL- TON, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings, in
I do hereby declare that the following is a full,
clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings formin g part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 represents a face view of the frame or support. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same with studs attached. Y Fig. 3 represen ts a front view of the shirt-bosom with the support attached in position as when in use.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre sponding parts.
The object of this invention is to prevent a shirt-bosom from being ruffle-d and soiled by wear, and to hold it straight and smooth while inoistcncd by perspiration. The nature of this invention consists in placing an elastic stretcher on the back side of a shirt-bosom, out of view when worn upon a person, which will bend to accommodate the motions of the body, and to bring back the bosom to its proper position when the body again becomes erect. My invention consists in a rectangular frame made of thin pieces of metal, or any other suitable material, attached to a shirt-bosom by means of studs, or by portions of the frame projecting through holes or loops formed in the bosom to receive them, wherebya shirt bosom can be worn, and kept clean and tidy, for a much longer time than without such support. I
A and B in the drawing represent the top and bottom strips of the frame or support connected by the side strips F. These strips pro ject beyond the sides of the frame to enter into holes or loops 0 0 made in the bosom to hold the support in position, and designed for a shirt which opens at the back.
Vhen the support is designed for a shirt which opens in front, the top piece A of the frame is cutoff even with the side pieces, and studs 1) l) are fastened into the corners of the frame, and inserted through the bosom to hold it in its place. E is a cross-bar placed in the middle of the frame to support the center portion of the bosom.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A shirt-bosom stretcher and supporter consisting of the quadrangular frame A B E F, provided at its corners with studs or projections, all constructed and adapted to be applied to the shirt-bosom, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 4th day of December, 1875.
THOMAS LLOYD DALTON.
In presence of- ALoNzo O. FARNHAM,
W. W. BROWNING.
