EDWARD N. LIGHTENS'IEIN, or BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
rouurarn BATI-I BRUSH,
Application filed-October 27, 1921. Serial No. 510,736.
1 .To aZZwhOm it may m ing is a specification. I
Be it known that I, EDWARD N. LroHriens'rnrly, a citizen of the United States, residing at" Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore City and State ofMaryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fountain Bath Brushes, of which the'follow- I improved construction in fountain bath brushes.
An object of the present'invention is to providela fountain bath" brush to which a water supply tube of the ordinary type may My invention relates to an be easily and readily attached to a spigot or other means for the supply of a liquid to the brush bristles.
A furtherob'ject of thep'resent invention is to providej a: fountain bath brush which may be usedwith a portable bath apparatus for use in rural communities where the usual facilities for bathing, including running water, bath tub and other modern conveniences may be found, and one which is simple in design, cheap to manufacture, and the simplicity of design and rigidity and strength of the structure rendering the fountain bath brush a desirable and useful article.
A still further object of this invention is to provide an improved fountain bath brush with a detachable handle which readily facilitates thorough cleaning of the same.
WVith the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, wherein like reference characters indicate like or corresponding parts,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved construction of my fountain hath brush.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same,
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the brush,
Fig. 4 is a top plan view of a modified form of construction,
Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of the brush handle showing the longitudinal groove,
Fig. 6 is a detail. perspective view of the brush showing the wedge shaped channel and longitudinal groove, and
the handle.
Referring to the drawings, my improved fountain bath brush construction consists of rig. 7 is a: modified form of constructing 2 a brush 1,'having the usual bristles 2, said bristles being provided with a central orifice 3 adapted 'toreceive the nozzle 4 of a liquid supplypipe '7, said supply pipe being bent downward asat 9 in order to allow the nozzle 4 which is of a diameter small enough to pass freely through the orifice 3, and is provided i at one end" with a flanged'nozzle cap 5, having the usual perforations therein, and at the opposite end with 'an' internally threaded hose nipplewhich is connected with the rubber supply hose 12 which in turn is adapted to be connected to any source of water'supply. g i
The brush 1 is provided with a detachable h'andle'15 having a longitudinal groove 16, to rest over the supply pipe 7 andretain the same rigidly in place. The back of the brush 1 is provided with a convergingchannel 17 and a longitudinal groove 18 extending to the orifice 3 for the reception of the supply pipe 7. The handle 15 is shaped to conform with the converging channel 17 whereby a wedging effect is accomplished, and which, when in place, holds the brush and parts in assembled relation and ready for use.
In the modified form disclosed in Figure 1, the brush 1 is provided with the rubber supply hose 12, the supply pipe 7, the orifice 3 and th other detailed construction disclosed in Figure 3. In this modified form I propose to provide the brush 1 with a series of apertures 20 extending through the brush to allow water to seep therethrough which will assist in preserving the brush proper. I also use in this modified form a wedge 22, doing away with the handle'le and using in place thereof a hand strap-23 This wedge 22 is also provided with a'longitudinal groove 16 as disclosed in Figure 3 and the converging I channel 17.
tudinal groove 16. When this has been done, take the handle 15 and place the longitudinal groove 16 over the supply pipe 7 and proceed to wedge the same in the converging channel 17 of the brush 1. When this has been accomplished you now have the fountain bath brush in assembled relation and ready for use.
Having thus described my invention, it is obvious that various immaterial modifications may be made in the same without departing from the spirit of my invention, hence I do not wish to be understood as limiting myselfto the exact form, construction, arrangement and combination of parts herein shown and described.
hat I claim as new and desire to secure 1 by Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the kind described comprising in combination, a brush back provided on its upper side with a converging wedge-shape channel extending longitudinally from one edge thereof, the side walls of said channel being undercut, said brush back being further provided with an orifice opening from the lower face of said back into said channel, and a groove formed in the bottom wall of said channel and extending from one edge of the brush back and communicating with the orifice, a supply tube adapted to rest in said longitudinal groove, a rubber tube connected to said supply tube, a handle provided with a longi- .orifice, a handle adapted to slide longitudinally within said converging channel provided with a longitudinal groove to receive said pipe for holding said parts in assembled relation.
3. In a device of the kind described, comprising in combination a brush back having a central orifice, an elongatedconverging channel communicating with said orifice and extending from an edge of the brush back, an elongated groove in said channel and also communicating with said orifice, a supply pipe adapted to rest in said groove and having a portion adapted to pass through said orifice, a wedge-shaped member adapted to slid longitudinally within said channel and provided with a groove adaptedto receive the "said pipe for holding it in assembled position.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
. EDWARD N. LICHTENSTEIN. I
