COMBINATION FOUNTAIN BRUSH AND SHOWER NOZZLE.

To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that I, RALPH W. TRUMB'ULL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of'Kansas City, county of Jackson, State of liiissouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Combination Fountain Brushes and Shower Nozzles, of which the following is a complete specification.

This invention relates to a combination fountain brush and shower nozzle and has for one of its objects to produce a brush of the character outlined which is readily detachable from a liquid supply conduit leaving said conduit available fora shower or rinsing device. v

Another object is to provide a fountain brush of the character outlined which is readily adapted for use with an extension handle or the like.

A still further object is to provide a fountain brush which may be completely dismantle-d for ready cleansing or sterilization of the parts.

With the objects named in view, the in vention consists in certain novel and useful features of construction and organization of. parts as hereinafter described and claimed; and in order that it may be fully understood, reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, in which V Figure 1 is a perspective view of a fountain brush embodying the invention as it will appear when ready for use: with the extension handle. In the said drawing, where like reference characters identify corresponding parts in all of the figures, 1 indicates a brush of rectangular outline for convenience of illustration, equipped with'a plurality of rows of bristles 2. The brush head is formed with a plurality of key-hole slots 3 located between the rows of bristles and the slots are open at one end 0f the brush head. Fitted within the end of each of the round portions of the key-hole slots is a semi-circular metallic collar 4: having a pair of side wings 5 fitting fiatwise against the end ofthe brush head and secured in position by a metal end piece6 fastened by .a series of screws 7 The metal collarf t is formed with a spring linger 8 projecting within the round portion of the key-hole slot and preferably diametrically opposite the slotted portion in the face of the brush head. i i

The liquid. supply connection of the in vention, comprises a body portion 9 having a threaded fluid inletopening 10 and also having a series of threaded outlet openings 11. Each of the openings 11 is engaged with the threaded extremity of a tubular conduit 12 closed at its opposite end, and each'being' adapted to be received within the round portion of one of the key-hole slots, and formed with a series of orifices 13 registering with the slot inthe brush head for the escape of liquid. Each of the conduits 12 is formed near its base with a circumferentialrecess 14 for frictional engagement with the spring fingers 8 to hold the brush head 1. on the conduits 12 against accidental dislodgment in use.

The inlet opening 10 of the body member 9 may have threaded engagement with the end of a nipple 15 carried by a flexible tube conduit 16 attached to any suitable source of liquid supply, or if desired, an extension handle 17 may be screwed int-o the body 9, said handle being hollow and being attached at its other end to the'threaded nipple.

In the use of the device the brush may be employed in the ordinary manner with soap or the like, and then when it is desired to rinse the body or apply a shower, the brush head may be quickly removed from the series of conduit fingers, leaving the shower attachment ready for instantaneous use without further manipulation. It will be noted in this connection that the plurality of small tube conduits 11 are so arranged that a substantially large volume of liquid will be emitted, and that the fingers are especially convenient for the cleansing of the scalp as the tubes can be run through the hair of the head and the Water directed directly to the desired point.

From the above description, it will be apparent that while I have produced a brush of the character outlined which possesses all of the features of advantage set forth as desirable, and while I have described and claimed the preferred embodiment of the same, I reserve the right to make all changes properly falling within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A fountain brush comprising a bristle carrying back having a plurality of parallel. internal passageways each provided with an exit orifice adjacent the bristles, a series of liquid conduit tubes each removably received within one of said passageways and each having an orifice communicating with the corresponding orifice of the back, and resilient means carried at one end of said back and engaging the tubes for interlocking said back and conduit tubes, said locking means being entirely concealed within the back.

A fountain brush comprising a bristle carryingback having an internal passageway provided with an exit orifice adjacent the bristles. a liquid conduit removably received within said passageway and having an orifice communicating with the exit orifice of the back and being formed with a locking recess received within the passageway of the back, resilient locking means carried by the back within the passageway for engagement with the recess in the conduit and a liquid supply tube communicating with the said conduit.

A fountain brush comprising a bristle carrying back having a plurality of parallel internal passageways each provided with an exitorifice adjacent the bristles, 'a series of liquid conduits each removably received vithin one of said passageways and each having an orifice communicating with the corresponding orifice of the back and being formed with a locking recess. a hollow liquid supply chamber removably secured to one end of said conduits. and conduit securing means secured within the passageways adjacent the end of the back abutting the supply chamber for locking engagement with the recesses in the conduits to secure the parts in fixed relation.
