RALPH J'. HARTMAN, OF TOLEDO, OHIO.
COIVIBINE'D SHOE-POLISH'ER AND BRUSH.
p Application filed November 7, 1921.
T all whom t may concer/n.'
Be it known that I, RALPH J. HARTMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Combined Shoe Polishers and Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
This device is a combined shoe polisher and brush, and has for its object to provide a handy device for the intended purposes,
l which can be carried in the pocket and so will be available at all times for the intended purposes, the parts bein enclosed in a neat and convenientJ case which will occupy but little space. f
One form of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying dra-wing in which Fig. l is a perspective view 0f the device folded.
Fig'. 2 is a similar view, open. Fig. 3 is a cross section. n
Referring to the drawing by reference numerals, l indicates ya backing or cover made of leather, composition, or any other suitable flexible material, and has a strap 2 at one en d thereof provided with a snap fastener 3 to engage a button at the opposite endv of the cover, to hold the device in folded condition. Attached to the cover 1,
by stitching 4, are polishing pads 5 of felt Serial No. 513,345.
or other suitable material, these pads being spaced apart at the middle of the cover or backing. A small brush 6 carried by a backing strip 7 is secured to the cover in the space between the pads 5 by rivets 8 or other 35 suitable means.
The pads 5 may be used for polishing shoes, and the brush 6 may be used for brushing hats, clothing. slices, or other articles, the cover being folded backwardly to form a convenient handle for the brush. lWhen the device is folded as shown in Fig. l the cover encloses the other parts so there is no danger of soiling the clothing or adjacent articles.
I claim:
A combined shoe polisher and brush comprising` a flexible backing, a pair of pads secured to the backing and spaced apart at the middle thereof, and a brush secured to `50 the backing in said space, between the pads, the backing being foldable to enclose said pads and brush.
In testimony whereof, l aiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
RALPH J. HARTMAN.
Witnesses:
