Application filed November T0 all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that l, .Avn llinms, citizen o: the United States, residing` the city ot Cincinnati, in the county ot ,flaniilton and State ot Uhio, have invented certain new and useful linprovenients in ltlops el' "which the following a specilisation.
The object-ot niy invention to provide a cheep, siniple and highly el'lieie t inop device, in which the handle and the inop port are united in n unique manner.
By using iny invention, l ani enabled to assemble the parts which torni the niop quickly and satisfactorily, and it the handle or the lnop becomes broken, l can replace it readily, and if the strands Which forni the mop become Worn and need replacement, l can place a ner? niop upon the handle, in either case overcoming the neeessity ot purchasing a nenT niop.
ln my neiv mop, the handle and niop part are united together in a manner to torni a tight joint, `which will he et a j nature and not become shaky or uohhlef retain uniform and serriceahle condition,
lts Ytee-tures and advantages VYill readily heroine :iijlparent troni the following; speellications lin the accompanying; drawing 'forming a part of this speeiiieation:
l.A ic an assembled view of the mop,
Qing` partly lrolten away, is a section on line 2)2 oi 'T l, is a section on line 3- o l, :l view or" the inner housing or herr-rile7 llig. 5, u ,wertion ot the outer housir or terrule, and
Fin'. S, is a View oli the mop fore-riding; ringv and holder.
ln the drawing,- the rnop handle is marked l, end may he of any hind, the mop part being marked Q, and muy also he or any torni and hind.
ln carrying out'iny invention, l provide a ferrule or housing t having' a lrnurled surh face 5 on a flange part il and carrying a screw thread l2 and provided with a hole 5 this represents the inner verrule or housing. l also provi de nn outer ilierrule or housing (S, having a contrarted .mouth 9 and rounded ofi top edge 8; at the bottoni this ferrule carries a flange T and suirl terruler is internally screw dthreaded, see screw threads l0. The outer ilferrule (5 Carries :i

linurled part 13. l provide a retaining ring as 3 to hold and distribute the threads or strands Which inale up the niop part 9. These parte are united together in the Ytollowingv manner; rlhe inner terrule lirst slipped down over the inop har reaches its proper position, at the bottoni thereoi1 and a sci-eu is placed through hole 51 toretain the said Yerrule on the niop handle; the niop strands 2 are then slipped through the ring 3 until the niiddle ot said strane s is reached; they are then Worked around said ring` 3 until they han@l over the same and forni an annular unitorni mop part; the ring with the mop strands or port 2 is then placed over the handle until the ring` carrying the mop part goes down as far it will resting upon the ledge or flange 1l and on the inner errule; the outer terrule 6 is then run over the niop handle and screwed down upon the ring and inop strands, sereiving down over the serev threads i2, by reason ot the sei-env threads, l0, screwing; thereon until the flange' or ledge il is tightly engaging against the inops strands andring 3, as shown in lille.
It will he seen by this operation tiff-t 'the niop parts are thus complete to 'forni a mop. Vvlhen the handle is broken, or the inop is Worn out, the :terrule G can he unscrr Ed from the :terrule and a neufv handle or nonv mop part placed in position, the same as heitere deserioed llt lwill he observed that this will. uralte a Atirst elass and standard inspiring; device, and. the sise et the .inop part een he regulated by `the number of strands used in nnA tir j* the niop p 1.
lhe outer :terrule o is contracte-d at the upper part 9,150 that u more firm hold is secured on the mop handle, and lov t i is means it is also kept more tightly in place, and prevented troni ivohhhng' and eenling loose' this terrule G is also rounded oil at l 8 in order to Lget a 1setter hund hold. lit
will also he observed that the terr .e is eut away at let, at its top, so that the flange i5 on the 'lierrule G, et Aits top part han r st upon said eut auf'ay part Ll, to niflte a tig-lit, close und serviceable joint between all said parts. By the terni terrule or housing', a forni of sleeve rneant.
lllhile l have deserihed one speeitic nurn-4 placing iny invention into practical torni, it nf'ill hereadily observed that l can change the sume to some extent, and wien ed on said Sleeve, a Second 'ferlnle mpnble to be understood as not lnniiingg myself 'to o' being screwed down onto the Suid nst the exact construction shown. mentioned sleeve, clamping the ring holdng 7What l claim as newY und my invention the mop part tightly n position.
