Be it known that I,JOHN Masoni, acitizen of the United States, residing at Worthington, in the county of Nobles and State of lprovide improved means for securing the tip upon the end of a cue.

To this end my invention consists in the features 'of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described /and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a per-4 spective view of the tip end of a billiard cue embodying my features of invention; Fig. 2

3 and 4 are details of the parts for fastening the tip to the cue.

In order to fasten SOVthetip .upon the end of the cue I provide a pair of bars 5 having pronged ends 6 which may'be removably inserted into the inner si'dely of the tip, the bars being assed through thecentral opening 7 of the t1p end 3 and a nut 8 threaded upon the inner ends ofthe bars and bearing against the adjacent portion of the cue end. Then it is desired to-fasten the tip on the end of a cue by my improved means the pronged ends of the bars are inserted into the inner face of the tip ywith the prongs directed away from each other as indicated in Fig. 2, the bars then 4being passed through the central opening the cue end 3 and the nut 8 screwed in- Wardly upon. the threaded ends of the bars.

rIhe removableV end 3 is then secured into the section 2 of the cue as indicated in Fig. 2. `By means of my Aimproved features `of construction I thus fasten the tip upon the end of the cue and secure a construction in which the tip can be easily and quickly removed and a new one substituted.

In securing a tip upon a cue by the use of my invention it 1s only necessary to force the prongs of the bars into the underside of the tip and then draw the bars together so that the prongs extend outwardly away from each other., the bars then being passed through the removable tip end which vholds them together and prevents the tip coming ofi' from the prong ends to the bars, the lock nut 8 assisting in holding the bars secured in the cue end.

I claim as my invention:

1. In combination a billiard cue, its tip, means for securing said tip upon the end of the cue comprising a pair of independent bars each formed with a laterally bent prong whereby the pronged ends of said bars may be independently inserted into the tip and turned to bring them into laterally extending position and means arranged in connection with the end of the cue for securing said bars together to hold their pronged ends extending outwardly in the tip.

2. In combination a billiard cue, its tip,

means for securing said tip upon the end of said cue comprising a pair of independent bars each formed with a laterally bent prong whereby the pronged ends of said bars may be independently inserted into the tip and turned to bring them into laterally extending position, and means for securing said barstogether within the end of the cue forv the purpose set forth. o 3. In combination a billiard cue formed with a removable end, a resilient tip, a Vpair of lia-rs formed with laterally directed end prongs fitted into said tip, said bars extendingcentrally through said removable cue end; and a nut threaded over the free end of said bars and bearing against the adjacent portion of the cue end for the purpose set forth.
