VIOLIN-BOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 15, 1907.
Application filed Februarv 18.1907. Serial No. 858,081.
To all 'tehom it may concern:
Be it known that 1 .l'AKoB Dos'rnn, a subject of the German Emperor. and aresident of Miilheint-on-the- Ruhr, Germany. have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Violin-Bows of which the following is a specititation. I
This invention relates to a device for lixing the crinite strings ol' violin bows to the peg and head of the same, and which allows the strings to be easily exchanged and prevents them from becoming loose.
The accompanying drawing shows the new device.
Figure It is a longitudinal section through the two ends of the violin bow. with the device attached thereto; while Figs. 2 and I) show in elevation and plan the main part of the same on an enlarged scale in the fre l a cavitv 2 is )rovided in which the s l clamping plate 3 is inserted. The latter is htngedly connected with a safety strap 4 and provided with a t projection 5 which has a recess 5 for the reception of the end of the tixing screw ti which screws through the j nut '7 fixed in the [mg .l and thus acts to fix the clamping plate 3 in the cavity 2 of the hog 1. The inner end of the clamping plate 2% is formed like a comb so that it is adapted to securely and tirinly hold the crinite strings 9 ot' the violin bow which are at their ends r l l l i l l l l t l combined in a knot 8 and placed over said comb. The safety strap 4 serves to be placed over the head oi the screw 6 for preventing the latter from shitting.
For tixing the ends of the crinite strings at the head of the violin how, the same device is used in a smaller ct'mstruction.
Havinglully described my invention what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising in (30111- g bination with the crinite strings (9) and the. knotted ends (8) of the latter and with the frog (1) provided with a cavity (2) a clamping plate (Z-l) fixe] in said cavity (2) and shaped at its inner end like a comb so as to receive said knotted ends (8) of'said strings (9). a projection (5) arranged on said clamping plate. and provided with a recess (5) a nut (T) fixed to said frog. :1 llxing screw (ti) adapted to screw through said nut and to [ix said clamping plate (I!) in said cavity (2) by engaging said recess (5) in said projection (Ti). and a safety strap t-t) hinged to said clamping plate t) and designed to he placed over the head of said tixing screw (tt) and tlrus to prevent the latter from shifting. substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof l have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JAKOB DOSTEII.
