Description

R. H. FRASER.
RECORD BINDER.
APPLICATION FILED IUNEY Patented Sept. 19, 1922.
JZoZerZlZZ'Vaaev INVENTOR I ATTORNEY WITNESS:
Patented Sept. l9, 1922..
ROBERT H. FRASER, 0F BATTLE GREEK, MICHIGAN.
RECORD BINDER.
Application filed June 7,
T0 oZZ HP/ZOWL it may concern:
Be it known that I, Bonner H. FnAsnn, a citizen of Canada, residing at Battle Creek, in the county of Calhoun and vEitate of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Record Binders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a holder for phonographic records of the disc type, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the envelope in which the record is sold can be utilized as a part of the holder.
Another object or the invention is to provide means whereby new records may be easily and quickly placed. in the holder or old records removed therefrom.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts. to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and spe, cifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters: denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view showing an envelope with the record therein and with holes punched therein for permitting the envelope to be placed in my holder.
Figure 2 is a view of the base plate.
Figures 3 and 4 are views of two different forms of spacer plates.
Figure 5 is a sectional view through a holder, the section being taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
As shown in these views I retain the envelopes 1 in which the disc records 2 are sold and I bind these envelopes together at the corners so that they can be turned like the leaves of a book. I provide a base plate 3 upon which the records are to be placed. I
unch a pair of holes 4 in one cornen of the plate and I form similar holes 5 in one corner of each envelope, these holes being arranged so that they lie in a plane adjacent a line tangent to the circumference. of the rec- 1921. Serial No. 475,757.
0rd. Spacer plates 6 are placed between the envelopes, these plates having holes 7 therein which register with the holes in the envelopes and those in the base plate. The envelopes are placed one upon another with their holes registering with each other and with the holes in the base plate and with the holes in the spacers. A lacing S is then passed through the holes, as shown in Figure 5, and its ends suitably secured together that the envelopes are fastened together like the leaves of a book. This will permit the envelopes to be turned over to permit access to those underneath so that the records can be removed. or replaced from these envelopes. I may form. one of the spacers oi triangular shape, as shown at 6 in Figure t. so that index oi the contents of the book or holder can be placed hereon. This plate should be placed at the top. If desired eyelets may be placed in the holders 5 to prevent the lacing from tearing the envelopes.
If desired a rubber band can be placed around the holdc adjacent the open ends of the envelopes to keep the records from. drop ping out.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A holder for phonographic records comprising a base, a number of record-receiving envelopes. said envelopes and base having registering openings, said openings beingarranged at one corner of each envelope, a lacing passing through the opening for hingedly connecting the parts together and spacer plates having openings therein regis tering with the openings in the envelopes, one of said spacer plates being arranged to receive an index.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
