Description

C. SCHULTZ.
HOLDER FOR DISK RECORDS.
APPLxcATioN FILED 0016,1920.
L. Patented Apr. 12, 19211.
UNITED STATES PATE-NTY oFFlcE. N
l sCHULT'z, or NEW YORK, iv. if'.
Beit known that I, CHRLE'S S'CHULTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county ofew York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders for Disk Records, of which the fol-lowing is a specification.
My present invention relates to improvements in holders foi' disk records.
One object of the invention is to provide a holder for record disks comprising a pad of leaves having thereon printed or illustrated matter associated with the rendering of the disk record contained within the holder; which leaves having the printed or illustrated matter may be stripped from the pad and distributed when the dlsk record is rendered among the hearers of therecord for fixing the identit)v of the record upon the minds of the hearers; or for providing instruction or additional interest and enjoyment for the hearers of the record.
A further object is to. provide a holder for preserving the record from dust, moisture or injury.
In the accompanying drawings which form partof this specification,
Figure 1 is a face view of my holder for record disks; i
Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction of the horizontal arrow;
Fig. 3 'is a fragmental perspective View;
and
Fig. 4 is a view on the line of Fig. 1, of a. modified means for retaining the lower loose ends of the leaves of the pad of the holder, the holder or envelop, record disk and pad being in section.
My holder for record disks comprises in its main elements oroparts a holder or envelop A, and a pad B.
The holder or envelop A is of paper or other suitable material, and preferably is substantially square in shape, each side being in length slightly more than the diameter of the record disk to be inclosed therein.
yThe holder or envelop A is composed of two sheets or body pieces, stitched, pasted or otherwise suitably secured together Y along the bottom 10 and sides 11 and 12,
and open at the top 13. The top 13 is provided with a. cut-out portion of each sheet, the cut-out portions forming a. means, such as thearcuate'recess 14, whereby the record B. Each leaf 15 has thereon illustrated or .,spscication of Lettersratentff" Patented Apr.f12,1921 nl.' i ellllilietieeld O'etqber 6`, 190. Seal, N- 4151" i' i .fdisk maybe graspedfor removing from f the holder Yor envelop A, :and the holder or face side, lwith -an opening, such as 14, for
exposing` illustrated orprintedmatter of t the record disk.
The pad consists of a plurality of leaves 15, pasted or otherwise suitably se-y cured together at` their upper ends, and loose or separate from each other at their lower ends, so as to permit the leaves tobe removedfseverally or stripped from the pad printed matter associated with the rendering of the particular disk record in closed in the holder or envelop, such as thetitlewof the record; information relative to the musical composition of which the disk is arecord; or if the record be declamatory, relative to that; portions of the libretto of an onera from which the record is a musical excerpt; or the words of al song as indicated in Fig. 1; the leaves to be dlstributed among the hearers of the record when the disk record is rendered.
The outer or face sheet of the holder or envelop A is provided with a band 16,preferably formed of the sheet^by slitting orP i cutting the sheet, the back of the pad B beto pass over and hold down or in place the.
loose ends of the leaves 15 of the pad B, that 1s, to prevent them from curling up or outwardly, as indicated by one of the leaves in 2, when the pad B is in the desired A, posltlon on 'the holder or envelop A, but to permit the loose end of a leaf 15 to bewithdrawn from under the band 16, and stripped from the pad B for distribution.
In F ig. 4, the band 17, theA purpose of which is the same as the band 16, is a strip of paper or other suitable material, pasted or otherwise suitably secured to the .outer or face sheet of the holder or envelop A, if in practice, such construction should be desirable as alfording a band of greater strength than the band 16.
Having thus described my invention, -I claim:
1. In combination, with a record disk, an envelop for inclosing the record disk; and matter aociated with the rendering of the disk record, andin separable parts, secured to said envelop and arranged for stripping therefrom for distribution when the disk record is rendered.
2. In combination, with a record disk, an envelop for inclosing the record disk; and
a. pad of leaves ot' matter associa-ted Withv the rendering of the disk record, securedV to said envelop and arranged for stripping the leaves fromvthe pad for distribution when the disk record is rendered l3. In combination, with a record disk, body sheets secured together at the sides and bottom and open at the top and forming an envelop for the record disk; a pad secured to one of the body sheets, the pad l comprising leaves of matter associated With the rendering of the disk record, the' leaves at one end of thev pad being secured together and being loose at the other end thereof for stripping the leaves from the pad; and means appui-tenant to one of the body sheets for preventing curling of the loose ends of the leaves and permitting stripping of the leaves from the pad for distribution when the disk record is rendered.
