To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, OHARLEs E. GREEN and JOHN H. BoDwnLL, both of the city of Newark, county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ferrules 5 and we do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon and forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a side view of a ferrule combining our improvements. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same.
This invention relates to that class of ferrules used upon paint and varnish brushes to bind and secure the bristles; and consists in making the ferrules of corrugated sheet metal, such as brass, tin, or'other light metal, in one or more thicknesses, and soldered together,
which ma5v be done by imxnersing them in the solder.
The ferrule, bein g corrugated, imitates the twine or wire, and holds the bristles just as securely, and is much more durable, not so liable to give way, and can be manufactured at Witnesses OLIVER BRAKE, DAVID COLLINS.
