PHILIPP WAGNER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN BRUSH-SOCKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 137,515, dated April 1, 1873; application filed March 13, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PHILIPP WAGNER, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new anduseful Improvement in Brush-Sockets; and I do .hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a brush made according to my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse section; and Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are detail views of the same.
The invention relates to the construction of a bridge for sheet-metal sockets of brushes,
bifurcations c c, which are soldered thereto. D is the bridge, whose edges are corrugated or channeled on the under side so as to form the strong grooved ribs (1 d, into Whose subjacent cavities the upper edges of the socket B are sprung, and there held and soldered. This bridge-piece, as well as the other pieces, is first cut out, as shown in Fig. 3, and then provided with corrugations d d, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, by rolling or stamping dies of corresponding construction.
By this construction the brush is made much stronger, more durable, and cheaper than those now manufactured.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The bridge D, having strong subjacentlygrooved ribs 01 d applied to the upper edges of socket A, as and for the purpose described.
PHILIPP WAGNER.
