Description

.I. F. BEAR.
SUPPORTER FOR SUSPENDERS.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 23, 1921.
1,419,802. I Patented June 13,1922.
M 6 gwuentoo JOHN F. BEAR, OF MANSFIELD, OHIO.
SUPPORTER FOE SUSPENDERS.
Application filed June 23,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN F. BEAR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Mansfield in the county of Richland and State of (lhio, have invented a new and useful Supporter for Suspenders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garment supporters, and more particularly to support ers commonly known as suspenders.
The primary object of the invention is to provide novel means to insure movements of the suspenders with the body of the user to eliminate binding of the suspenders.
A further object of the invention is to provide means of this character of a construction to reduce the wear on the straps which connect the body portion of the suspenders to the trousers, to a minimum.
With the foregoing and other objects in View which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter de scribed and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Referring to the drawing Figure 1 is a fragmental plan view of suspenders disclosing a link constructed in accordance with the present invention, forming a part thereof.
Figure 2 is an elevational view of the link disclosing the rollers in section.
l igure 3 is a vertical sectional through the link.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the reference character 5 designates the main or shoulder straps of the suspenders which are provided with the usual connecting links 6 that connect the trousers straps to the sh0ulder straps 5.
The trousers straps in the present invention include an upper section 7 and a lower section 8, the upper section 7 including a pair of straps 9 which have their ends connected to the link members 6 as at 10, the

intermediate portions thereof operating over the rollers 11 and 12 which form a part of the link.
The link embodies a body portion 13 having a curved elongated opening 14 to accommodate the lower section 8, the opening let forming a bar 15 with the upper portion of the link, and as shown, the upper portion of the body is cut away to provide opposes l6 and 17, which arms are twisted or formed at right angles to the side faces of the body portion to present relatiwely straight smooth strap engaging portions 18 to reduce wear directed to the edges of the strap to a minimum.
The arms 16 and 17 are provided with suitable openings to accommodate the bar 19, which bar is provided with right angled portions 20 forming arms, the extreme ends of the bar being bent into parallel. relation with the lower portion of the bar to provide a support for the roller 11.
From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the curvature of the opening 1%, and the bar 15, the straps which engage the bar 15 and the walls of the opening 1 1 are supported so that the side edges thereof are normally out of contact with the ends of the opening as well as the arms 16 and 17.
Having thusdescribed theinvention, what is claimed as new is In a suspender link, an upper section and a lower section, the upper section comprising opposed bars, rollers supported on the bars, the lower section comprising a bar having a curved elongated opening, opposed arms forming a. part of the lower section, said arms having openings to accommodate portions of one of the bars of the upper section to permit of. pivotal movement be tween the sections, and said arms adapted to engage the ends of one of the rollers.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signa ture in the presence of two witnesses.
JOHN F. BEAR.
