The object of the invention is to provide a simple. etficient and economical device in construction by means of which umbrella stre'tchers may be easily applied and removed by hand and without the use of tools.
The invention consists in'the novel construction, arrangement and combination of parts as hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
One sheet of drawings accompanies this specification as part thereof in which like reference characters indicate like partsthroughout. I
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view ot'a runner member showing'one improved'detachable stretcher in section and one in elevation;
F 2 is an elevation View of a portion of an umbrella stretcher preliminary to affixing the spring hook member; 1
Fig. 3 is an elevation of a part of an improved stretcher with the spring hook member secured in place.
In this invention a stretcher 4t 01 the usual U-shaped channel construction is used and cooperating therewith is aspringwire hook member comprising a shank or body 1 which at one end has an angular terminal 2 and at the other a hook 3. This spring hook member is placed between the sides 5 of the stretcher 4 with the shank 1 resting against the bottom of the channel and the hook 3 extending beyond the end'of the stretcher as illustrated in Fig. 2.
