GURT ENGLEI-IARDT, OF BUTTE, MONTANA.
CLOTH-HOLDER.
Application filed May 21,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CURT ENGLEHARDT, a citizen of Germany, residing at Butte, in the county of Silver Bow and State of Montana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Cloth-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to clamps especially designed to hold a cloth in position upon a table. I
An object of the invention is the provision of a cloth holder adapted to be secured beneath the top of the table for the purpose of providing a yielding clamp to receive the cloth and hold it smoothly and properly in position.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists of the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a fragmentary perspective view looking at the under side of a table top with the invention in position.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of a holder detached from the table.
Fig. 3 is a section on the line 3--3 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts the reference character 10 denotes the top of the table, to which the holder 11 is applied.
This holder comprises a base plate 12 which is provided with openings 13 for the Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 1, 1921.

reception of screws or other fastening devices and by means of which the holder is secured in position. Secured to the base plate 12 is a curved plate 14, the latter being provided with prongs 15 which pass through openings 16 provided in the base plate 12 and are bent over as illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3 to hold the parts assembled. The curved plate 14 is provided with inwardly curved spring fingers 17 these fingers extending outwardly toward the edge of the table top to receive the cloth between them to provide a yielding grip. This will hold the cloth smoothly upon the top against accidental disarrangement. The plate 14 is preferably slotted as shown at 18 to add to the length of the fingers 17.
The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention what is claimed is A cloth holder comprising an attaching plate adapted to be secured beneath the top of the table, a curved plate secured to the first mentioned plate and disposed at right angles thereto, the attaching plate extending beyond the curved plate to provide an attaching flange having perforations therein and inwardly curved spring fingers extending from the curved plate and having their free ends in contacting engagement to yieldingly receive the cloth.
