Description

F. ZURCHER.
NECKTlE CLASP.
APPLICATION H LED 00T. 3, 1919.
1,360,488, Patented Nov. 3o, 1920.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK ZURCHER, OF PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA.
NEGKTIE-CLASP.
Application filed October 3, 1919. Serial No. 328,228.
To all 107mm t may concern:
Be it known that FREDERICK ZURoI-IER, citizen of the United States, residing at Bellevue, Pittsburgh7 Pennsylvania, in the county of Allegheny and State of .Pennsyl- Vania, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Clasps, of which the Jfollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to a device for attaching a necktie to a collar in such a manner that the tie does not need to be tied each time it is worn. Another object is to provide an improved clasp whereby the portion oi the tie which is concealed by the col- `lar is arranged so as to separate the two ends. This is accomplished by means of my improved clasp which when fastened may be drawn back under the collar, thereby giving the tie its proper appearance.
still further object of the invention is to lengthen the wear of the tie, thereby reducing the cost oi neckwear to those who use the same.
lilith these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel combinations, constructions, and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter 'lully described and ciaimed.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure l is a perspective view of the tie and clasp; Fig. Q is detail perspective view ot my improved clasp.
Referring to the accompanying" drawings by numerals it will be seen that l represents the tie. The band portion 2 of theneck portion ot the tie passes through the central part ot the tie 3., and is adjusted by means of the end 4. In operation the band portion 5 of the tie is placed around they collar so that the clasp portion 6 provided with a. button 7 comes ont past the end of the collar. The loop 8 is then slipped over the button 7` and the band portion 5 pulled back, carrying the clasp and tie end 9 underneath the collar. Or if a folding collar is in use the clasp portion is brought back from the front of the collar so as to be covered by the wearing apparel.
By referring to Fig. 2 it will be seen that the clasp consists of parts l0 and 11. Part l0 is provided with a loop 8 which iits over the button 7. It will be noticed that the clasp is provided with a hinge portion l2 which is operated by means of a spring 13 which holds the teeth 14: of the hinge portion l2 against the teeth l5 of the clasp member l1.
It is obvious that various modifications` and changes may be made, and right is reservedA to all suoli as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention.
What I claim is:
In a device of the class described, a clasp consisting of two clamping members, a main portion of one of saidclamping members provided with teeth at one end and a button at the other end, a hinged member provided with tec-th secured to one side of said main portion, a coil spring acting on said hinged portion, a second clamping member provided with teeth at one end and xa loop at the other end, a hinged member provided with teeth secured to the main portion, a coil spring acting` on said hinged portion, substantially as described for the purpose set forth. y
In testimony whereof I ailiX my signature.
FREDERICK ZURCHER.
