H. BERKSON REVERSIBLE NECKTIE Filed March 26. 1925 Patented May 29, 1923.
HARRY IBERKSON, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
REVERSIBLE NECKTIE.
Application filed March'26, 1923. Serial No. 627,736.
T 0 all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, HARRY BERKSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Reversible Neckties, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to reversible neckties and the like and is fully described in the following specification and shown in the accompanying drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a made-up bow tie embodying the invention,
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the bow reversed,
Fig. 3 is a top plan of Fig. 1,
Fig. 4 is a perspectve View of the band on the tie, v
Fig. 5 is a front elevation of the bow removed from the band, and
Fig. 6 is a rear view of the bow applied to a modified form of holder.
The embodiment illustrated comprises substantially a cloth 'covered loop' 10 which encircles the central portion of two cloth' bows 11 and 12 which lie back to back as shown in Fig. 3. A band 13 preferably ofed in the loop- 10 so that they can be rotated.
The user, therefore, can wear the device with the how 11 to the front as shown in Fig. 1, or by grasping the bows 11 and 12 and'turning them with respect to the 100 10, the rear how 12 can be brought to the rent as shown in Fig. 2. Thesebows may be of the same material so that this arrangement gives double length of life to the tie or they may be different in material or coloring so that the user has virtually two neckties in one.
In F ig=. 6 is shown a modified form of the -.device in which the loop 10 is secured to the center of a member 17, the ends of which are adapted to fit under the ends of the collar of the wearer. A spring Wire clip 18 is secured to the back of the member 17 which is adapted to snap over the collar button which secures the end of the collar. This necktie likewise has the two bows 11 and 12 which are constructed as previously described which may be reversed in the same way.
While I have shown and described but two embodiments of my invention it is to be understood that it is ca. able of many modifications. Changes, t erefore, in the construction and arrangement may be. made which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the appended claims in which it is my intention to cover all novelty inherent in the invention as broadly as possible in view of the prior art;
I claim:
1. A bow tie comprising a loop, means for securing said loop to the collar of a wearer, and 'two fiat bows set back to back and rotatably encircled by said loop whereby they, may be reversed.
2. A bow tie comprising a loop, an elastic member secured to said loop for securing it to the collar of a wearer, and'two fiat bows set back to back and rotatably encircled by said loop whereby they may be reversed.
3. A bow tie comprising a loop, means for securing said loop to the collar of a wearer, and two flat bows of different appearance set back to back and rotatably encircled by said loop whereby they may be reversed.
. HARRY BERKSON.
