COLLAR-SECURING MEANS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 14, 1918. Serial No. 217,089.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it know that I, WILLIAM D. Ross, a subject of the King of England, residing at Winnipeg, in the Province of Manitoba and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Collar-Securing Means, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to collar securing means, and more particularly to means for securing a collar to the shirt neck band. 7
One of the main objects of the invention is to provide a securing means of the character stated of simple construction and operation which is carried by a collar and permanently secured thereto so as to avoid danger of loss of any of the elements of the device. further object is to provide a securing means of simple construction and neat appearance which may be readily applied to collars of standard construction. Another object is to provide a securing means by means of which the collar ma be readily detaohably secured to the neck and of a shirt. Further objects will appear from the detailed description.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a front perspective view of a collar with a securing means constructed in accordance with my invention,
Fig. '2 is a section taken substantially on line 22 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a section taken substantially on line 33 of Fig. 1.
The collar A is of standard construction being provided with the inner fold b and. the outer fold 0. A tab 1 of fabric is secured at its upper end, by sewing or in any other suitable manner, to the inner face of inner fold b at the center at the back of the collar. The tab is provided, in its lower end, with a stud 2 so positioned that the shank thereof may be inserted through the usual opening in the back of theneck band 3, and
the corresponding opening through the inner fold I) of the collar. The head 1 formed on the outer end of shank 2 is adapted to be received into a socket 5 which is secured in the inner fold of the collar with the recess which receives the head 4 coincident with the opening through which the head is inserted.
Patented Feb. 24., 1920.
By inserting shank 2 through the neck band 3 and then pressing the two members of the securin device together so as to force the head 1 lnto socket 5, the inner fold b of the collar is firmly but releasably secured to neck band 3 at the back thereof. A similar tab 1 is secured to the inner face of inner fold b of the collar adjacent one end thereof, and carries a socket 5 which is adapted to receive a head 4* formed at the inner end of the shank 2 of a stud 2 carried by one of the overlapping end portions 6 of the fold Z) of collar A, the shank 2 being inserted through the usual opening 6 in the overlapping end portion of the neck band 8at the front end thereof. By means of the stud and socket fastener. illustrated, the collar may be readily secured to the neck band of a shirt, I
and all danger of loss of any of the securin elements is eliminated. .When it is desire to remo'vethe collar, this may be readily aocompli'shed by detaching the members of the fasteners thus permitting the collar to be taken from the neck band. In practice, the elements of the fasteners may be formed in the usual manner and secured to the tabs and the collar by pressing so as to be firmly fastened thereto and to occupy but very little space. As a securing means of this sort may I be produced at very small cost, the fasteners outer folds, and having the ends of the inner fold extended, a tab secured at its upper end centrally of the inner face of the inner fold, a headed stud at the lower end of the tab, a socket at the lower edge of the'inner fold to receive the said stud, a headed stud at one of the extended ends, a tab attached to the other extended end, and a socket carried by thefree end of the last mentioned tab to receive the stud of the extended end.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM DQROSS. Witnesses:
