BOYD E. MARTZ, OF WILLIAMSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
SPECTACLE-CASE CLIP.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 10, 1920.
Application filed April 26, 1918. Serial No'. 230,930.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BOYD E. MARTZ, a citizen of the United States, residing at \Villiamsburg, in the county of Blair and State of Pennsylvania, hav invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spectacle-Case Clips; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art, to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in spectacle or eye-glass case clips and has for one of its objects the provision of a device of this character which can be readily and conveniently applied to an ordinary case for the purpose of firmly securing the same in the pocket of the user or to any portion of the garment.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a resilient member having formed upon one end a resilient grip adapted to grip a portion of the case and have its free end curved to form a clip adapted to engage over a portion of the garment to confine the same between itself and the case thereby firmly securing the case to the garment.
A further object of this invention is the provision ofa clip of the above stated character, which shall be siinple, durable and eflicient, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
lVith these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention. reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a verti 'al sectional view of a spectacle or eye-glass case having a clip applied thereto constructed in accordance with my invention, I
Fig. 2 is aperspective view of the clip.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. it will be noted that a novel form of clip has been provided, which can bereadily and conveniently applied to various types of eye-glass or spectacle cases and which willfirmly hold itself upon the case and firmly secure the arse to a garment.
'hile I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention. what I claim as new is A clip comprising a member constructed from a single length of resilient material tapered toward one of its ends, the enlarged end of said member bent upon itself to engage both faces of the wall of the receptacle. said member from its enlarged portion being offset outwardly and having its free end rolled to form a spring gripping tongue adapted to grip a garment between itself aud the receptacle, the rolled end of said tongue biting intothe garment to prevent the tongue from disengaging the same.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in-presence of two witnesses.
BOYD E. MAR'I'Z.
