which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw-.

As is particularly illustrated in Figs.l,

2, and 3, C denotes a comb adapted to be inserted within a holder H or the like, and which holder has a side face atjits open or. entranceend cut away as indicated at 1.

Each side face of the back 2 of the comb 1s provided with a longitudinally disposed cove or channel 3 in which is adapted to be engaged a spring jaw 4 of the body B of my im roved clip.

The ody B is substantially U-shaped in cross section and is adapted to straddle the back of the comb or' the like/so that the spring'jaws 4 thereof may readily engage within each of thegrooves 3 so that an effective engagement will be had with the comb. r

- The lower end of one of the jaws 4 is pro- 7 which rounded portion is continued by an extended resilienttongue 7. In 'the form of invention illustrated in Figs. 1' to 3 inclusive, the extension 5 is disposed outwardly and laterally relative to a jaw 4 of the body B, but when the clipjis' adapted for use in connection with a encil,

fountain pen, or the like, the extension 5 as is particularly illustrated in Fig. 4 extends outwardly and laterally from an end portion of the central part of the body B. The form of my invention asdisclosed in Fig. 4 is otherwise the same as has hereinbefore been described and for which reason arts are identified by the same ref similar erence c aracters.

When my device is employed in connection with the holder H it will also be understood that the member 11 is adapted to engage in a conventional manner a wall of the pocket so that in addition to maintaining the comb C- within the holder H, the holder H will be effectively held within the pocket.

From the foregoing description, it is.

I claim:

1. A 'clip of the class described comprising a body provided with engaging jaws, a lateral extension carried by said body continued by a resilient tongue, said tongue comprising two overlying portions connected at their outer extremities, the inner extremity of one of said portions partially overlying the extension and continued by an outstanding finger-piece.

2. A clip of the class described compris- I ing a body provided with engaging aws, a lateral extension carried by said body continued by a resilient tongue, said tongue comprising two overlying portions connect- :ed at their outer extremities, the inner extremity of one of said portions partially overlying the extension and continued by an outstanding finger-piece, said portion adjacent its inner end being provided with prongs overlying the second portion of the tongue for holding said overlying portions against relative movement.
