To all whom it may concern:
. Be it known that I, JOHN HEALD, a citizen of the United States,residing at the city of- Jamestown, in the county of Chautauqua and State of New York, have invented certain new Range-Boiler Stands, of which the following, taken in connection with the accom-- panying drawings, is a specification.
The invention relates to supports for hot water or range boilers; and the object is to provide a strong and durable knock-down boiler stand which has great strength, yet may be knocked down for shipment, and is soconstructed that the standards may be struck from heavy metal bars withrounding bases that are not liable to deface the floor or floor covering, whichyshape automatically provides grooves in the upper ends of said standards to receive thelower edge of the boiler in interlocking and holding en;
gagement, said standards being each provided with a sidewise extending connective arm or brace 11. ving an adjustable slot therein and shaped in corresponding angles for attachment to one another to provide a tripod boiler stand having adjustment to different diameters of boilers; and the invention consists in the novel features and combinations hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation of a hot water boiler supported by my improved tripod stand, the gas hot water heater being supported'on said tripod stand immediately beneath the boiler and within said stand and connected to said boiler. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the tripod boiler stand showing the construction and arrangement of the same. Fig. 3 is a top plan View of the tripod boiler stand showing the arrangement of the inter-connecting adjustable bracing arms. Fig. 1 is an elevatlon of one of the standards of the boiler stand with the central portion broken away and the lower edge of the boiler base in section resting in the notched upper end of said standard. Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of one of the crosswise bracing arms. Fig. 6 is a pertripod stand 11, which tripod stand consists and useful Improvements in of the three standards 12 which are connected by the angular bracing adjustable arms 13, one tov each of the three standards 12.
Each of the standard 12 is struck from a fiat steel bar of suflicient width and thickness to give the required strength, the die for cutting said bars to length being curved sidewise from the line of fracture so as to provide a downwardly projecting roundin central boss let at the lower end of eaci standard 12, and a similar shaped central notch 15 at the upper end to receive the lower edge 16 of the boiler 10 in the notch 15, the three notched standards 12 holding the boiler 10 firmly in position and interlocking with the base thereof in a strong tripod support, the three bosses 1(1 providing a curved surface which is not likely to scratch or mar the floor or floor covering, as
for example linoleum.

bar as the standards 12 and extend in ward to a spaced distance from a central point and thence turn sidewise at the angle of' the arm 13 of the adjacent standard, thereby providing a bracing triangular opening 17 in the center between said arms. Each of the arms 13 has the lengthwise slot 18 therein to receive the attaching bolt 19 which extends through the adjacent arm.
It is now apparent that the bolts 19 may be loosened and the distance between the standards 12 shortened or lengthened as necessary to fit the under edge 16 of the different sizes of boiler 10. The arms 13 are attached to the standards 12 preferably by two screws 20 so that they may be adjusted at the desired height, additional holes 21 being provided in the standards 12 for such adjustable attachment. WVhere permanent attachment is desired, two round rivets may be used or a single square rivet.
By attaching the arms 13 near the lower ends of the standards 12, provision is made for the support or" a hot water heater 22 on the triangularly connected arms 13, the heater 22 being connected to the boiler 10 by suitable pipes 23 and 24, thereby providing a very compact and neat appearing arrangement of the hot water boiler and water heater. When it is desired to ship the standard, the bolts 19 are removed and when not permanently attached, the screws 20 may be removed from the arms 13 and standards 12, thereby providing a collection of steel or metal bars which can be shipped in small space and easily and quickly assembled.
I claim as new:
1. A boiler stand comprising three upright standards struck from metal bars by a suitable die, said bars cut the same pattern on the upper and lower ends to provide rounding bosses on the lower ends and similar shaped notches on the upper ends to receive the lower edge of the boiler in said notches, angular shaped connecting arms for said standards struck from said metal bars, said angular arms attached to said standards at their outer ends and adjustably attached to one another at their inner ends to adjust the boiler stand to dilferent sized boilers.
2. A boiler stand comprising three upright standards struck from steel bars by a die having a sidewise projection to provide a notch on the upper end of each standard to receive the lower edge or the boiler therein and a floor protecting boss on the lower end of each standard, connecting bars for said standards one to each struck from said steel bars the inner portion of aid connecting bars shaped at the angle of the outer portion of the adjacent connecting bar and having a lengthwise slot therein to ad justa-bly attach thereto by screw bolt, said bars removably attached to said standards at their outer ends to form a connection and a triangular hot water heater support beneath said boiler, and removable bases having slots therein conforming to the shape of the embossed lower ends of said standards to receive the same in supporting engagement.
