Be it known that I, HENRY F. S'rooknve, of Macon, Macon county, Missouri, have invented a new and Improved Adjustable Shelving-Bracket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention consists of a bracket having slots in the vertical part to hook onto studhooks ofa wall-bar, the said bracket having a stii'fening-*cleat attached to the under side of the horizontal part that bears against one of the hook-studs for a brace to re-eni'orce the bracket, and the hook-stud, bracket, and shelf are so arranged in relation to each other that the shelf forms a lock to prevent the removal ofthe bracket until the shelf is removed.

My invention also consists of a cranebracket to be used in connection with the said shelvingbracket for supporting a pole above the shelving for hanging goods on in stores and the like.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the wall-bar and bracket; and Fig. 2is a sectional elevation of the wall-barbracket, and shelf, and also showing the crane-bracket arranged-in connection with the shelf-bracket.

The wall-bar a is preferably made of metal, and is set up endwise and fastened to the wall by screws b. It holds the stud-hooks c,which are screwed or riveted into it, said hooks being placed at equal distances apart in a line along the face of the bar. The bracket consists of the angle-bar d e and a re-enforcingcleat, f. The vertical part' d of the bracket has two slots, g, for hooking onto thestudhooks, said slots being made the same distance apart that the stud -hooks are, so that the bracket may be shifted along the wall-bar from one stud to the next. The 11e-enforcing cleat f, attached to the under side of the part e for strengthening it, has a head, h, which bears against the upper stud-hook on which the bracket is connected for a brace to support the shelf, and the shelf t slides under the next hook c above the bracket, when placed on the bracket, and forms a lock when fastened to the bracket by a screw, j, which prevents the bracket from being raised off the hooks while the'shelf is in position, thus making a substantial construction of the bracket that cannot be detached accidentally, and also a substantially-braced bracket without a projecting brace.

For the crane-bracket Ivuse a suitably bent rod, 7c, having a ring, l, suspended from the upper -end, the lower end of the rod being screwed into a bar, m, near its lower end, said bar having a couple of slots, g', above the hole forthe rod, and adapted to bc secured by the two upper hooks, c', of the wall-bar a, said hooks being turned downward to lock the bar m against the top of the bracket d e, whereon the lower end4 of the bar m rests. The rod k is screwed into said bar m a distance above the lower end of said bar m equal to the thickness of the shelf i, so that the horizontal part of the rod rests on the shelf for a brace.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new` and desire tosecure by Letters Patentd l. The combination of the angle bracket` bar d e, provided with slots g, and a re-enforcing cleat, f, having a head, h, with the wall-bar a and hooks 0, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. In an adjustable bracket, the angular bracket d e, provided with apertures and connected to the wall-bar by stud-hooks c,in coinbination with a shelf, c', fitting closely between the said bracket and the next hook aboveA the bracket, whereby the bracket is securely held in place on the wallbar, substantially as set forth.

The combination of angular bracket d e, slotted at g g, brace f, provided with a head, h, and shelf i, with wall-bar a, provided with hooks c, said shelf iitting closely between the bracket and the next stud above said bracket, whereby the shelf serves as a lock to securely hold the bracket in place, substantially as shown and described.
