IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE SHEILVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 172,339, dated January 18, 1876; application filed November 23, 1875.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1', WILLIAM PATTERSON, of Oneonta, in the county of Otsegoand State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Pipe Shelves, and the mode of attaching and fastening the same to stove-pipes, so as to be easily detachable; and the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents a vertical section of stove-pipe, showing the band-clamp surrounding it to hold one or more shelf-brackets by the action of a bolt and screw-nut, alsoshowing the shelves as they are attached to the brackets, and distended in one position for use. Fig.2 shows a plan or top view of the same. Fig. 3 shows an edge view of one of the shelves detached from the bracket, also the bracket detached from the stove-pipe.

My invention is an improvement on a movable stovc-pipe shelf or shelves, for which I received Letters Patent, dated July 15, 1873; and it consists in the construction of one or more adjustable brackets or ribbed angleirons, one side of the angle being curved to lit the outside circle of the stove-pipe, so as to be held firmly in any desired position by a clamp-band and tightening-bolt or thumbscrew, the shelves being provided with hookpintles, by which they are attached and held.

To the first jointAthat connects with a cookin g-stove, or any other that has a vertical pipe, a fiat band of metal, B, is fitted, the ends being turned outward, with holes in them, to receive the bolt I), or a thumb-screw may be substituted, if desired, to clamp the band, and the lower vertical angle of the brackets O 0 onto the pipe A, in any desired position. The horizontal upper portions of the brackets are ribbed on the under edges to secure strength. They are provided with a hole by which the shelves D D are attached, the latter being secured to sustain the required weight by hook-pintles d d, projecting on the under side of the shelves D, the hooks being passed in from the top, and the shelves, being brought to a level, are secured in position, and free to turn either right or left to be out of the way, or may be taken out of their sockets or holes in the brackets O 0.

What I claim is The ribbed brackets G O and the shelves D D, with their hook-pintles d d, in combination with the clasp-band B and stove-pipe A, substantially as. and for the purposes herein shown and described.
