IMPROVEMENT IN UMBRELLA-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 194,169, dated August 14, 1877; application filed To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEZEKIAH W. PETTI- BQNE, of Attica, in the county of Wyoming and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement on my invention and patent of Umbrella-Holders, as granted me April 16,1872, N 0. 125,690; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and
exact description of the construction and operations of the same, taken in connection with the application and drawings of my former patent, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification; and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
K (seeFigure 2) is an adjustable clamp, made in two parts, the jaws of which are in oval form. The clamp is provided with a thumbscrew, 70, and a spring, I, by which means it may be easily and quickly adjusted to the size or shape of the standard or rod D. (See Fig. 1.) This clamp has one plain surface, so that it may be placed on the top or bottom of the seat A, (see Fig. 1,) or on any other plain April 2, 1877.

By means of this clamp the standard or rod D may be securely held without any other support, and, by turning the thumb-screw it, it may be turned in any direction desired; also, it may be raised or lowered, (see Fig. 1,) so that it may hold a large or small umbrella at any height desired.
I claim-- The adjustable clamp K, in two pieces, connected with the thumb-screw Ia and spring 1, all combined and arranged substantially as specified.
