IMPROVEMENT IN K'NnlFE-SHARPENERS.
Specification forming part oi' Leiters Patent No. 130,660, dated August Q0, 1872.
Speciiication describing a new and useful Improvement in Knife-Sharpener, invented by JONATHAN QUIPI, of Buffalo, in the county 0f Erie and State of New York.
The object of this invention is to furnish cheap and convenient means for .sharpening knives; and it consists in an emery-roller supported on a suitable frame7 as hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure lis a side View of the article. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of Fig. l taken on the line x.

A is the roller7 which maybe of any suitable i diameter and length, with a journal or pivot at each end. B is a bed-plate, and C C are stands or ears attached to the bed-plate, through which the journals of the roller pass.
This roller is made of Wood or of any suitable y material, and covered with emery or equivalent material, the same as cmery-wheels; or it may be lnade of a composition of emery or sand and other material.
I do not conline myself `to any particular manner of making the roller, or ot' mounting it on a frame. I arrange it to be readily re' volved, so that a new surface may be presented at any time for sharpening knives.
This article may be placed upon the diningtable, or in any convenient situation for sharpening knives, and will be found most efficient for that purpose.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A knife-Sharpener composed of the roller A, base B, and stands O C, arranged substantial- 1y as shown and described.
