To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ULYSSES CHAUFFE- PIED, a citizen of the United States, residing at Shreveport, in the parish of Caddo and State of Louisiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Comb-Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to comb cleaning devices embodying a frame and a plurality of spaced parallel strands of wire or flexible material, which when drawn between the teeth of the comb removes the dandruff and other foreign matter which accumulates be tween the teeth.

The principal object of the present invention resides in the provision of a device of this character wherein one side of the frame has secured thereto strands of relatively fine material adapted to be used between the closely associated teeth of the comb, while the opposite side of th frame has secured thereto strands of relatively coarser material suitably spaced for proper use with the end of the comb where the teeth are spaced a considerable distance apart, thus providing a device which can be conveniently handled for the purpose intended.

The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.

The device forming the subject matter of my invention embodies a frame which may be constructed from any suitable material, preferably wood, the frame consisting of an elongated member 10 which forms in part a handle. A cross piece 11 is secured to one extremity of the member 10, projecting beyond the opposite sides of thelatter, .while secured to the said opposite sides at a suitable point in the length of the member 1.0

are blocks 12 and 13 respectively. The latter are disposed in alinement with each other, and in parallelism with the cross piece 11. Connecting the block 12 and the corresponding extremity of the cross piece 11, is a plurality of spaced parallel strands of very thin wire. thread or other suitable material, the strands 14 being secured to said parts in any suitable manner. Extended between the block 13 and the corresponding extremity of the cross piece 11, is a plurality of spaced parallel strands of relatively thick wire, thread or other suitable material 15. In addition to the strands 15 being relatively thick, they are spaced apart a greater distance than the strands 14. Obviously the device is constructed to be conveniently used with either fine or coarse combs, or with combs including a fine and coarse section. In practice the strands 14. of relatively thin material which are closely associated are drawn between the teeth of the fine section of the comb, to remove the dandruff and other foreign matter from between the teeth, while by simply reversing the device the relatively thick strands 15 may be drawn between the teeth of the coarse section of the comb for a similar purposes. Each of the strands lt and 15 are formed in a continuous piece and have each of their ends secured around projections, such as the pins 16 illustrated in Fig. 1. The spacing of the strands is accomplished by passing through intermediate portions around spaced pins or projections 17 as illustrated in Fig. 2. This permits of the strands being tightened without providing an auxiliary adjusting means.

While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent I desire to have it understood that what is herein shown and described is merely illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.

What is claimed is A comb cleaning device comprising an elongated member forming a handle, a cross piece secured at one end of said member, blocks secured to the opposite side of said member in spaced relation to said cross piece in alinement with each other, spaced pa 'allel strands of fine material secured to one of said blocks and the adjacent extremity of said cross piece, strands of relatively thick material secured to the other of said blocks and to the other end of said cross piece and pins extending from the cross piece and block for spacing and securing the strands and whereby the said strands may be tightened, Said relatively thick strands being 10 spaced apart a greater distance than said relatively thin strands.
