UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
COMB-CLEANER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 2, 1906.
Application filed eptcmber 29,1905. Serial No, 280,689.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EMANUEL HEOH- HEIMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore city, State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Imrovements in Comb-Cleaners, of which the .following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in comb-cleaners, and the object of which is to provide a cheap and effective article whereby a comb, which has become clogged with particles of dandruff and other substances by reason of its use, is easily cleaned.
WVith the foregoing object in view my invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations, which will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing the figure is a perspective view of my invention.
A represents the upper part of the frame, made of Wood or other suitable material. B is a similar part forming the lower end of the frame, the two parts A and B being connected and held together at suitable distance apart by the rod D, on the end of which is the handle C. The frame parts A and B are each provided with means for allowing the rod D to pass through their respective centers 7 and 8 and being held rigidly in position by suitable means, preferably set-screws 9 and 10.
Running from the outer end of the frame A and connecting with the corresponding end of the frame part B are the twisted Wires 1 2 3 on one side and the wires 4 5 6 on the other end of the frame part A, likewise connecting with the corresponding end of the frame part B. The wires are attached to the frame parts A and B by any suitable means, preferably by holes drilled therein and the wires run through.
I have shown but three wires on each end of the device, but do not desire to limit myself to this particular number. Again, it may be found advantageous to have heavier wires on one side and lighter wires on the other to correspond to the fine and coarse teeth in a comb. Also the wires are made of twisted wires, thereby adding to the effectiveness of the article.
From the foregoing it will be seen that a simple device has been provided by which a comb can be cleaned by passing the wires of the cleaner through the teeth of the comb and out again a number of times, thereby removing any particles that may have collected therein in its ordinary use.
Slight changes might be resorted to in the form and arrangement of the several parts described without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the exact construction herein set forth; but
I claim- A comb cleaning device, comprising a frame, made of two parts, a central rod provided with a handle, means of allowing the rod to pass entirely through the frame parts, the frame parts secured and adjusted on the rod by means of set-screws 9 and 10, corrugated wires located on the outer ends of the frame parts connecting the upper with the lower frame part, attached thereto by suitable means, all in combination and for the purpose as set forth.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
EMANUEL HECHHEIMER.
