To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NICOLAE 0. More, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Indiana Harbor in the county of Lake and State of Indiana, have invented new and useful Improvements in Extinguishing Devices, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in extinguishing devices and the principal object of the invention is to provide means for extinguishing a lamp from a distance.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in operation and one which can be manufactured and placed upon the market at a minimum cost.

The invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views and in which Figure 1 is a View showing the application of my invention.

Fig. 2 is a View of the extinguishing tube with the means for securing the same to the burner.

Fig. 3 is a section through the box containing the air bulb.

Fig. at is a perspective view of the extinguishing device.

As shown in these views my invention consists in extinguishing the flame of a lamp from a distance, for instance by my invention a person may undress and get into bed and then extinguish the flame of the lamp from the bed.

a metal tube 4; passing up through a hole in the burner adjacent the wick tube of the burner and said tube is split at its end and the metal flattened to provide a substantially trough shaped portion 5. This portion connects with a clip 6 which is adapted to be bent around the wick tube to hold the extinguishing device in place.

I prefer to form the said clip, the trough 5 and the tube A of one piece of metal. The

tubing may be connected with the tube A and the bulb 2 by any suitable means.

It will thus be seen that when the bulb is pressed upon a blast of air will pass through the tubing and the tube A and the trough 5 will direct it against the flame and thus extinguish the same.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make such changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

What I claim is A device of the class described comprising a tube having a trough shaped end, a clip projecting upwardly at right angles from said end and fitting over the wick tube of a burner, an air bulb and tubing connecting said bulb with the tube.
