ALBERT EMACK, OF CALAIS, MAINE.
LAMP-BURNER.
Specification of Letters Patent. I .Patented Jan. 12, 1915. I
Application filed May 2. 1914. Serial No. 835,986.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT EMAOK, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of Calais, in the county of Washington and State of Maine, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Burners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will en'- able others skilled in the art to which it appert'ains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in lamp burners and comprises a simple and efficient device consisting of rubber tubes adapted to fingers which hold the chimney, the tubes being provided with metallic tips which are fastened to the fingers and alford means for protecting the tubes and guiding the chimney as it is placed upon the burner.
The invention comprises various details of construction, combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claims.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which: 7
Figure l is a side elevation of a burner made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of one of the tubes removed from a finger, and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. 1.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a burner of the usual wick type for lamps which has resilient fingers B. Tubes, des' ignated by letter D, are fitted over each finger and at the upper end of each tube is a metallic tip, designated by letter E, which is tapering as shown and which is fastened to the finger by means of an upset part of afforded whereby the rubber tube will prevent the chimney from accidentally falling off, the tip also protecting the rubber and, by upsetting a portion thereof, forms a means for clamping the device upon the finger or the stake of the burner.
What I claim to be new is:
1. In combination with a burner having resilient chimney engaging fingers, rubber tubes, each fitted over a finger, a metallic tip fastened to the upper end of each tube, a portion of said tip being upset to frictionally hold the tip and tube in contact with the finger.
2. In combination with a burner having resilient chimney engaging fingers which are slotted near their upper ends, rubber tubes fitted over said fingers, a metallic tip surrounding the upper end of the tube and tapering, a portion of the tip being upset and holding a portion of the tube in the slot of the finger.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
- ALBERT EMACK. Witnesses:

HARRLETTE L. WHARFF.
