RICHARD G. ANDERSEN, 0F POIVIONA, CALIFORNIA.
LAMP-BURNER ATTACHMENT.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD C. ANDER- SEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pomona, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Burner Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in lamp burner attachments, the object in view being to produce a more perfect combustion by causing a draft of air to be established, thus feeding sufficient additional oxygen to the burning wick,
' thereby making a more brilliant flame than without the attachment.
The invention consists of a simple and eflicient device adapted to slip over and be frictionally held by the wick tube.
The invention consists of a simple and efficient device of this nature having various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described, shown in the accompanying drawings and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
I illustrate my invention in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation showing the application of my invention to a wick tube of a burner. Fig. 2 is a top plan view, Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view with the attachment removed from the wick tube, and Fig. 4 is a top plan view of the attachment removed from the burner.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates an ordinary burner and B the wick tube.
C designates a metallic attachment which is bent at its transverse center at an angle as at D, having two inclined portions E which are perforated, said device then being bent at an angle at F, with the two ends H and H disposed at inclinations to Specification of Letters Patent.

each other and terminating a slight distance above the wick tube and spaced apart. Projecting from the under surface of the burner are the lugs A, shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, and against which the angled portions of the attachment C bear and cooperate with the marginal edges of the slots through which the wick tube passes to hold the device securely in place.
By the provision of an attachment made in accordance with my invention, I have found that a large and brilliant flame may be produced by reason of a draft being established through the perforations at the upper ends of the plate which tends to deflect the current toward the flame and causes the same to spread. By the provision of a device embodying the features of my invention, I have found that is is possible to produce a larger and more brilliant flame by the excess of oxygen which tends to afford a complete combustion, thus eliminating the obnoxious smell of unburned carbon.
The device, which is simple in construction, may be easily and quickly applied to and removed from tubes of various forms of burners, thus rendering the same more efficient than the ordinary burner without the attachment.
What I claim to be new is In combination with a lamp burner having a wick tube and lugs projecting from the upper surface of the disk of the burner from which said tube rises, a plate having a transverse slot formed therein for the reception of said wick tube, said plate being bent at an angle in alinement with said slot forming two downwardly inclined portions which are bent at angles and engage said lugs, the ends of the plate forming wings which are inclined toward each other and extend above the wick tube and spaced apart a slight distance therefrom, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
RICHARD O. ANDER SEN.
Witnesses:
