JAMES H. FELLOWS, 0E ALBA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN WAGON-SEAT SUPPORTS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H. FELLOWS, of Alba, in the county of Bradford and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Wagon-Seats; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional, and Fig. 3 is a top view of the same.
My invention has relation to the construction of wagon-seats; and consists in the novel construction of a riser or support, which is adapted to be used in connection with my seatfastener or look for which Letters Patent were granted me ,on the 8th day of August, 1871, and also with my Letters Patent bearing date May 4, 1868.-
The letter A of the drawing represents my riser, which I usually cast in one piece, of malleable iron or other Suitable metal. B B represent flanges, which extend outward respectively to the right and left, as shown. These flanges B are intended to sit squarely upon the bed-plate, and thereby insure firmness in the connection of the seat therewith. O (J represent ears, adapted to fit in the fastenings for whichI have received Letters Patent, as above mentioned. The letters D D represent'extended arms projecting to the right and left, as shown, and which, in conjunction with the flat upper surface of the riser and the connecting flanges, hereinafter mentioned, form the rest or bed-plate for the seat proper. The letters E and H, respectively, represent flanges, upon which the seat proper rests, and to which it is connected by means of bolts with nuts and screws or other proper fastenin gs. The letters I represent braces, extending from the sides of the arch to the extensions D, and serve to give strength and firmness to the seat. In constructin g my seat-riser I cast the letters of the Words Fellows Pat. Fastener and Riser between the rims of the arch, as represented on the drawing, which serve not only as braces and supports for the rims, but also as an ornamental means of advertising.
What I claim as new is- The seat-riser herein described, having body A, flanges B, E, and H, arms D, and ears 0, constructed and arranged substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have JAS. H. FELLOWS.
Witnesses PHIL O. MASI, D. D. KANE.
