To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, ELIZABETH HONGIER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia Kand State of Pennsylvania, haveinvented ,new and useful improvements in Snaprapidity with which the parts may be unclasped. A further object is Ato relieve strain upon the stitches by which the snap fastener is secured thereby reducing to a minimum the possibility of tearing during an unclasping period the fabric to which the snap fastener is attached. A further object of the present invention is to provide a, snap fastener which requires less material in its manufacture thanI do standard forms of snap fasteners now upon the market, Ybut which in assembled positions has substantially the same appearance as standard forms of snap fasteners. A further object of the present invention is to provide a snap fastener characterized by certain new and novel arrangements, connections and constructions of parts as will hereinafter more fully appear.
The invention consists of the improvements hereinafter described and finally claimed.
The nature, characteristic features and scope of the invention will be more fully understood from the following description talren in connection with the accompanying drawings forming part hereoic and in which:

Referring to the drawings and more particularly to Figs. 1 to 3 in which the preferred form of the invention is illustrated, the female member of the snap fastener is designated. l and the male member 2. rThe recessed portion of the female member 1 is Patenten oet. e2, reis.,y
provided 'with a latch spring 3 for copyeratively engaging the head 4 of the male member 2 to retain the parts in co-actingrelation. The thin, flat portions of the members 1 and 2 are each of elongated structure and longitudinally considered the edges thereof are inversely curved, that is, the Width of said flat portions is reduced by csutting away the material thereof upon curved lines 5. Laterally considered, the edges of each of said iiat portions of said members 1 and 2 are conversely curved. The members 1 and 2 are adapted when coacting to have the longitudinal axes thereof disposed substantially at right angles to one another so that the conversely curved edges of one member projects beyond the inversely curved edgesof the other member to provide a circular effect of disk-like contour, see Fig. 2. Thus assembled, the members 1 and 2 give the general effect of a standard form of snap fastener. Provided adjacent the conversely curved edges of the members 1 and 2 are stitch accommodating apertures. ln practice slots 6 have been found to give best result-s although other forms of eyes may be employed. Such slots are provided with notched. portions 7 for accommodating the threads of the stitching by which the members 1 and 2 are axed to a fabric whereby the members'1 and 2 are more firmly held in place. Obviously. such notches may be omitted if desired.
