To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, CHARLES WEIS, a c1t1- zen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have inyented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Pocket-Book Protectors; and I do hereby 15 ing a pocket ook within the pocket of a garment. p p p A further object of my invention is to pro vide a protector so constructed that the pocketbook may: be readily secured within the pocket of the movedtherefrom. r Afurther object of my invention is to provide a pocketbook and a protector theregarment and readily refor so arranged that the two articles can be sold together, the formerbeing capableof ready-attachment within the pocket of a garment by means of an rdinaryneedle and thread";

A further object of myinvention is to provide a protector. of sucha typefthat any number of said protectors .c an be attached within the pockets of various garments and be used for securing thereon either the same or different pocketbooks made according to myinvention. p r ,1

When the strip 11 is securedto the fabric 10, a slight looseness, shown by the space 13, may be provided between said strip and fabric for a purpose hereinafter explained.

A metallic washer 14 is placed on 'the outer side of the strip 1 11 and a similar washer 15' is placed on the inside thereof. The fastening member is the resilient ball 16 which is preferably formed of spring sheet metal and is cut away so as to leave four sprin zones, three of which are shown as at 171 -17. The spring zones 17 are formed integrally with the collar portion 18 and the latter passes through holes provided in the metallic washer'lk, the strip lland the me tallic washer" 15 andtheend of said collar p'orjgion is riveted over the washer 15 as at 19, and thus the fastening member is secured to the strip 11. i

The cooperating fastening member which is attachedito the pocketbook 2O comprises the following parts z Thev -washer 21 is formed integrally with the tapered sleeve 22 and the latter projects through a hole provided in theback 23 ofthe pocketbook 20.

' The sleeve 22 is'flared outwardly as at 2 1 and between the flared portion 24: and the back 23 there is crimped the cap 25 which thus secures thecooperating fastening memher 'to the back '23.

The mode of use and operation of my improved, pocketbook protector is as follows:-

It will be noted that any number of strips with a fastenin member attached thereto may be provide with each pocketbook and said strips may be sewed in as many pockets as desired.

It will also be noted that any number of pocketbooks may be used with the same strip 11. I

It will further be notedthat pocketbooks such as 20 may be sent from the factory with the cooperating fastening members secured thereto and with the zones 17 in the sleeves 22 thereof, thus securing the strip 11 to the pocketbook during shipment and sale.

I claim 1. In a pocketbook protector, the combiemma nation With a pocket and pocketbook, of a strip sewed only at its ends to said pocket, a fastening member secured to said strip and a cooperating fastening member secured to said pocketbook.

2. In a pocketbook protector, the combination with a pocket and pocketbook, of a strip sewed only at its ends to said pocket, a resilient fastening member secured to said strip and a rigid cooperating fastening member secured to said pocketbook.
