Description

N. BACH.
ANTIRATTLER. APPLICATION FILED JUNE 9, m1.
Patented A r. 2,1918.
NICHOLAS BAGH, 0F BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
ANTIRATTLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 2, 1918.
Application filed June 9, 1917. Serial No. 173,741.
I '0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS BACH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antirattlers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to anti-rattling devices for awnings and covers certain improvements of my pending application filed June 3, 1916 Serial Number 101,47 8.
The invention will be better understood by referring to the drawings forming part of this specification although it is understood that I do not limit myself to the precise form shown therein.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from that embodiment of my invention of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, and in which:
Figure 1, is a side elevation of an awning and part of its fixture showing the invention applied.
Fig. 2, is an enlarged view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3, is a view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Referring more specifically to the drawings, 1 represents a portion of a guide rod of an awning frame, and 2 the runner mounted thereon in the ordinary manner. This runner 2 is provided with a cutout portion 3 at its upper end.
The anti-rattling device is designated in the drawing by a and is arranged on the guide rod 1 above the runner 2. This device a is constructed preferably of a single piece of sheet metal bent at the middle 1 which, when in use is always in contact with guide rod 2, thus forming upper and lower plates 5 and 6 respectively.
These plates are provided with openings through which the guide rod 1 passes. The extremities of the plates form gripping pieces for the fingers by which the device may be manipulated.
On the lower plate 5 of the device a if) a lug or finger 7, which is struck out from t e function of this finger being to engage in the recess 3, and prevent lateral turning movement and consequent vibration of the runner.
Thus it will be seen that when the device a is in the position shown in Fig. 2 it would be impossible for wind to force the runner to ride on its guide rod.
What is claimed as new is:
In an awning the combination with one of the guide rods and its runner; of a pair of resiliently connected plates adjustably mounted on the guide rod above the runner, a finger carried by one of the plates to engage an opening in the runner.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 10th day of May, 1917 NICHOLAS BAOH.
