To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES H. SM1TH, a citizen of the United States, residing at La Porte, in the county of Harrls and State of Texas, have invented certain new and usefulv Improvements in Cuff-Buttons and Sleeve- Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a combination cufi button and sleeve holder.

The object of the invention is to provide a device of the character described which may be used as an ordinary cufi button to secure the cuff of a garment around the wrist of the wearer in the ordinary way but which is yieldable so as to permit said cuff to enlarge when the sleeve is drawn up around the arm and which will cause said cuff to grip the arm of the wearer to hold it in any desired position on the arm.

With the above and other objects in View,

the invention has particular relation to cer tain novel features of construction, operation and use, an example of which is given in this specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a side view of the device.

Fig. 2 is a sectional view thereof taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1. d Fig. 3 shows a cuff secured around the wrist by means of the device and Fig. 4 shows the device in position, holding the cuff gripped around the arm of the wearer.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, wherein like numerals of reference designate similar parts in each of the figures, the numeral 1 refers to a wire formed of spring steel or some other suitable metal. The opposite ends of this wire are spiraled, forming the spirals 2, 2, said central part forming a connectin link 3. The whirls of the spirals 2, 2, ra ually enlarge inwardly and the free en 5 of the wire are looped around the adjacent whirl at the points 4, 4. Secured to the outer ends of the device are the button-like disks 5, 5, these disks not being essential but being provided to give the device a more finished appearance. When the device is inserted through the button holes of the cuff 6, the cuff ends lie between the opposing spirals, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, said spirals being yieldable so as to permit the cutfends to spread apart as the cuff is dra n up on the large part of the arm of the wearer and the cut? will be gripped around the arm by said device and held in position on the arm.

What I claim is:

1. A device of the character described including a connecting link whose opposite ends are formed into spirals forming yieldable retaining means.

2. A device of the character described including a rigid connecting link whose opposite ends are formed into spirals, the whirls of said spirals forming yieldable retaining means.

3. A device of the character described including a connecting link whose opposite ends are formed into spirals which surround the corresponding end of the link, said spirals being spaced apart and forming yieldable retaining means.

4. A device of the character described including a connecting link whose opposite ends are formed into spirals, the whirls of the spirals gradually enlarging inwardly, and the free ends thereof being looped around the adjacent whirls, said spirals being spaced apart and forming yieldable retaining means and button-like disks secured to the outer ends of the respective spirals.
