EAR-RING FASTENER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 280,726, dated July 3, 1883.

Application filed April 14, 1883.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. DUTEM- PLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ear-Ring Fasteners; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which. form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to the manner of attaching ear ornaments; and it consists of a fastener made of wire, bent to form a half-coil, and provided with an elongated point.

Figure 1 represents an ear ornament with fastener complete, enlarged size. Fig. 2 is an end view of the same.

To the back of the ornament A is secured, by solder or other suitable means, the fastener B, which is made of wire, the straight or shank (No model.)

the fastener B, the latter consisting of the shank a, half-coil a, and elongated point a", the whole arranged and adapted for use as and for the purpose specified.
