To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR JAMES L1s- TER, a4 subject of the King of England, and residing at Bradford, in the county of York, England, have invented Improvements in Sock-Suspenders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has reference to sock or stocking Suspenders of the type in which a garter is employed which ts around the leg, and carries a gripping device proper, which engages the edge or bodyof the sock or stocking and supports it.

The gripping suspendingdevice proper is secured to the garter through an elastic or expansible ring, and this ring is held up by loops on the end f the garter, one end of which is secured to the garter body by 'a press button clip or the like, .and the other to the other end of the garter by a. buckle or the like.

The fastening or clip device proper for securing and holding the sock is of the type having a stud on a plate which passes through a link; and in the fastening act,

these two parts are put on the opposite-side' of the sock, and they are pressed together, and the material of the sock is pressed between the stud and the link, so that it will be gripped between these parts.

' This gripping device is carried from the elastic or explansible ring by a band, having a press button clip or like fastener on its ends.

With regard to the features claimed.y as novel in respect of the herein described invention, these are set out in the clauses of the statement of claim concluding the spec# ification.

The invention is illustrated in the anneXed drawing, which shows a suspender having the characteristics above specified; and it will be further described with the aid of this drawing. 1 l

Referring to the drawing, a is the garter or leg picce;.e is the elastic or expansible ring-Which is preferably of rubber; and z' is the sock or stocking gripping device.. Of the leg piece or garter a, b represents a pressbutton clip or fastener device, part of which--say thev stud-on the end ofit,

being normally engaged with the sockctdci vice on another part of the garter.

This press button clip will be similar to the common press button clips used on gloves and other articles of. apparel. On the other end ofthe garter a buckle c is'lixed, which may be adjusted to and .fastened in any of the holes provided in the gar r.

In securing the ring e to'the' garter a, the end of the' Garter is assed through it, and then through'the buc le 0,' and then the other'end is passed through the ring, and

The gripping device z' is secured to the ring e by the band f, which has on it a press button clip fastener h, similar to b;

so that by passing this band through the ring e, and the link 7c of-the gripping device i (which is of Well-known form), this device is connected to the ring. Y

The devicez' consists of the link c, flap Z, and stud m on this flap. The link is. of a form commonly used in this type of gripping device, and the projecting stud m, when the device is closed, passes down into material of the soekor stocking being first introduced. over the stud.
