To al laahom it may concern: Be. 1t known that IQRANnnnKnnr, a 'c1t1- zen of the United States, residing at Elizabethtown, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new anduseful Improvements in Combined lo'bacco-Receptacles and Pipe-Cleaners. of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates toa combined'to bacco receptacle andpipe cleaner, and more a particularly to means whereby the cleaner is carried in" the receptacle and secured thereto. i y

i The object of the invention is the provision of a receptacle and cleaner, in combination with means whereby thecleaneigwhen not in use, may be removably insertedwithin the receptacle, and detachably fastened in position therein.

A further object of the invention is the provision of meansnwherebythe cleaner is so positioned withinthe receptacle that 'the contents thereof are not exposed to the air, and consequently damaged.

the bottom 5 of the can is apertured at 6, this aperture being preferably provided on the line of mergencebetweenthe vertical wall of the flange 2, and the bottom 5, and,

also preferably, near one of the edges'of the can, as clearly indicated in all the figures-of the drawing. Moreover, and-for a purpose to be hereinafter explained, the aperture 6 is preferablyso formed that the inwardly turned flange 7 thereofis upwardly beveled or inclined,as indicated in Figs. 2, 3 and4.

The cleaner 8 may be'of any desired construction. I prefer to construct it of a fairly resilient, corrugated wire, as shown in Fig. 6, and, if desired, it may be covered partly or wholly with felt or other absorbout. It is preferably formed'of .a material which is possessed not. only of an inherent resiliency, but is also sufliciently rigid for .the purposes to be hereinafter described.

The outer end 9, or handle of the cleaner, is turned at approximately a right angle to the body portion, and terminates in an angled extension 10, as shown in the drawings.

From the foregoing the operation ofmy device is clear. The cleaners may be applied in position at the factory, when the tobacco is packed in the cans, or the can may be pierced by the consumer and the cleaners made and properly positioned, or the cleaners may be bought in the open market. In any event the body portion ofthe cleaner is' inserted in the aperture 6, and extends upwardlywithin the can, between a side wall thereof and the air-proof capsule 3. It will be noted, see Figs. 2 and 8, that thelower portions of the capsule 3 are rou'nde'd'at the bottom, greatly facilitating the insertion of the cleaner between the wall and the capsule without danger of rupture of the latter.

It will'be understood that, with the body of the-cleaner between the wall and capsule, due to the proper proportioning of the partsthe handle 9 will be upon the bottom The cleaner may then-be rotated so that .the handle Qmay extend across the bottom 5, and the angled extension 10 will then frictionally engage the flange 2..
