To all whom it may concern? Be it known that I, EARL T. Hunt-err, a citizen of the United States, residing at Phoenix, in the county cit Maric'opa and State of Arizona, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cases for Check and Memorandum Pads, of which the following is a specification, reter'enee being had to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to an impreved case for check and memorandum pads and has for itsprimary object to provide a very simply constructed device whereby a large number of checks and stub blanks may be conveniently carried in the pocket.

It is a more particular object of the in vention to provide in a device for the above purpose, a case which may be conveniently constructed of cloth, imitation leather, genuinc leather, 'or other suitable tieiiible ma;- terial, said case having a body wall adapted to be centrally folded, and pocket on the inner face of the wall at each side of its center, said pockets being adapted to -re ceive the relatively stiff backing of a check pad and memorandum pad respectively.

It is another important object of the invention to provide a folding case having spaced pockets, in combination with the check pad and memorandum pad each having a stiff backing for detachableengagm inent in one of the pockets, the memoranduin pad being also "provided with a sti'ii cover sheet-opposed to the check pad and having a flexible connection, adjacent one of its edges, to the memorandum pad, the cover and back sheets of the memorandum pad being stitched together and the outer wall of the case overlying the stitching and protecting the same;

With the above and other objects in view, my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which,

A separate piece of flexible material 9 is arranged upon the inner face of the wall 5 and stitched at its-ends thereto, and at one of its longitudinal edges by the row of stitching indicated at 10, which is approximately on thecen'ter line of the body wall. The several sheets constituting this pad may be suitably lined to provide columns in which indicative memoranda relating to the individual checks, is to be written. In this manner, an accurate record or account of the check payments maybe preserved separate and distinct from the check pad, and when the stub or memorandum pad has been filled, it may be readily removed from the case and kept in a suitable record cabinet.

It is to be particularly noted, from reference to Fig. 2 of the drawing, that the end edge of the body wall 5 of the case, at the open side of the pocket 11, extends over and covers the line of stitching 18. Thus, when the case is folded and placed in the pocket, the stitching Will not be rubbed and Worn whereby liability of the front and back cover sheets of the memorandum pad becoming separated is practically obviated. lVhen along the line of stitching 10, and the cover sheet 16 of the memorandum pad lies against the face of the check pad. By the provision of such a holder or container for the separate check and memoranda pads, a large number. of checks may be carried upon the person very conveniently and Without liability of their loss. easily torn. It is also to be observed that, by the provisionof a separate stub or memorandu'm pad, ample space is given for the entry of complete and accurate data relating to the check payments. The case itself consists of only two pieces of material, and it is, therefore, manifest that thesame can be very inexpensively produced. The books or pads can also be very easily and quickly arranged in the pockets of the case and as their relatively rigid back Walls entirely fill said pockets, casual detachment of the pads from the case is not likely. I

From the foregoing description,taken in connection With the accompanying drawing, the construction, manner of use and several advantages of my invention will be clearly and fully understood. While the device is exceedingly simple, I have found the-same to be of great convenience and serviceability in practical use. By means of my invention, instead of the usual check book having the stubs and checks detachably connected, a

' relatively large number of separate checks and stubs or record sheets may be carried by the depositor. It 1s, of course, apparent that the case may be manufactured in various sizes, in accordance, with the diflerent sizes of checks, and can also beornamented or'embellished in any desired manner.
