Be it known that I, RENE WORRELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Media, in the county of Delaware and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Water- Faucets, of which the following is a specification.

The present invention relates to attachments for water faucets, and the object of the invention is to provide a device which may be easily and quickly attached to a faucet and which will direct the flow of water therefrom to deliver the same in a steady stream to prevent the splashing of the same.

A further object of the invention is to provide an anti-splashing device for water faucets which shall include an outer casing of suitablematerial and which shall have arranged therein a plurality of radially, loosely connected flexible strips which shall receive the impact of force of the water, breaking the same and so causing the water to pass through the tube at a steady flow and so prevent the splashing of the water.

A further object of the invention is to construct a device of this character which shall embody the desirable features of simplicity, cheapness in manufacture, strength and durability, and which may be readily attached to or detached from the faucet.

Other objects and advantages will appear as the nature of the invention is more fully understood, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which there is illustrated a satisfactory reduction of the improvement to practise, and in which drawmg:

Figure 1 is a transverse sectional view through an ordinary bath tub showing the improvement attached to the faucet thereof, Fig. 2 is an elevation of the improvement, parts being in section, Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 2, and Fig. t is a sectional view on the line 44 of Fig. 1.

For convenience, the device is shown in applied position upon the faucet of a bath tub, but it is to be understood thatthe im provement is not thus to be limited in its useful capacity, as the same may be applied to any faucet or spigot which delivers fluid to any receptacle, wherein it is desirable that the said fluid will pass at an even flow and the splashing of the same shall be overcome.

In the drawing, the numeral 1 designates an'ordinary bath tub, 2the ordinary bath tub cook or faucet, and 3 my improvement in its entirety.

The improvement comprises essentially a cone or funnel-shaped casing 4, the same being preferably constructed of some rubberized or other water proof material, and the upper portion or mouth of the casing is provided with an inner ring 5 which retains the mouth of the casing open. Also secured to the outer face of the casing at the mouth thereof through the medium of rivets or similar elements 6, which are secured to the inner ring 5 is an outer ring or band 7 the sald band 7 being provided at diametrically opposite points with upstanding portions or cars 8. These ears are adapted to receive the ends of a flexible support 9, which in the showing of the drawing is in the nature of a chain and the end links of the chain are connected to rings 10 which pass through the openings in the ears 8. Preferably one of the rings 10 has arranged thereon a hook 11 which may be passed through any of the links of the chain 9, and so adjustably secure the device 3 upon the faucet or cook 2. The flexible element is simply passed over the faucet, so that its delivery spout will be arranged central of the casing 3.

The ring 5 is provided with a plurality of diametrically oppositely disposed ears or eyes 12, the same being preferably formed upon the bottom and extending inwardly of the ring, and to each of these eyes is connected a flexible member, preferably in the nature of a chain 13, the said chains being centrally connected by a ring 14. Each of the chains 13 has attached thereto a flexible strip 15, and the said strips extend a suitable distance below the tubular casing 6. The strips 15 are, of course, arranged radially in the casing 34, and the said strips are preferably constructed of some textile material so that the same will give to the force of the inflowing water, it being understood that the said strips pass freely through the casing and are not connected thereto. The strips 15 provide the interior of the casing with a plurality of partitions, and it will be noted that when water is permitted to pass through the anti-splashing device 3, the force of the inflowing water will be broken by contact with the said strips, so that the same will be delivered at an even flow and the liability of the splashing of the water will be entirely overcome.

It is to be understood that the device will be manufactured in various sizes, best suit ed for the receptacle to within which the cock or faucet delivers water.

From the above description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, the simplicity of the device, as well as the advantages thereof will, it is thought, be perfectly apparent to those skilled in the art to which such invention appertains without further detailed. description.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. In. a device for the purpose set forth, a flexible water proof casing open at the ends, a ring within the casing at the mouth end thereof, flexible members connected with the ring and. extending radially therefrom,

' secured to each of the radially disposed flexi ble members, and projecting through the casing.
