UNITED STATES PATENT FFIYCE.
WILLIAM L. SIMMONS, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
BATH-HOSE.
SECIFCATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 683,076, dated September 24, 1901.
Application filed l'u'ly 20,1900.
To a/ZZ whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM L. SIMMONS, a citizen of the UnitedStates of America, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bath-Hose, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to certain improvements in bath-hose, the object of which is to provide a hose which can be looped around the neck and which will then discharge water from a number of small apertures, affording a sort of shower-bath.
To this end it consists in certain features of novelty which will be fully described and claimed below.
In the drawings, Figure l represents the delivery end of the hose, showing the under side in the position taken when it is looped around the neck. Fig. 2 is a perspective of the end which is folded back and hooked to form a loop. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the same, showing the fasteningeferrule partly on. Fig. 4 is a similar section showing said ferrule in normal position. Fig. 5 is a transverse section of the hose through one of the discharge-openings, and Fig. 6 is a perspective of a bushing or eyelet used to protect said openings.
In the drawings, A represents an ordinary rubber hose adapted to be slipped upon a bath-tub faucet or other source of water-supply, and said hose is perforated at a and eyeL` lets or nipples B placed in the perforations by stretching the same. These eyelets may be made of gutta-percha or other suitable material, and they serve to beautify and rena Serial No. 24,283. (No model.)
der more sightly the perforations through which the water is discharged. The end of the hose which contains the perforations is provided with a plug C, through which are passed and clenched the ends d d of a wire hook D, which also passes through the ferrule E, which is forced over the end of the hose and clenched around the same behind theplug, as seen in Fig. 4. This eects a complete and ornamental closure at the end of the hose and also affords a secure and rigid connection for the hook.
It should bc noticed that the loop may be made of any size desired, adapting the hoseto all persons of whatever size and to a great variety of uses. When not in use, the looped end may be unhooked and allowed to assume a straight position with relation to the rest of the hose, all of which adds to the durability as well as to the convenience of storing the same.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-m The combination with a bath-hose having a series of perforations near one end, of a plug in that end, a hook secured in the plug and a washer embracin g the shank of the hook and the plug, and clenched about-the hose behind the plug; substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, this 16th day of July, A. D.
WILLIAM. L. SIMMONS. Witnesses:
