Description

1. B'. MURRAY;
FOLDING STAND FOR PORTABLE HEATERS. APPLICATION FILED 1AN.20, 1916.
Patented Apr. 11,1916.-

FOLDING STAND FOR PORTABLE HEATERS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 20, 1916. Serial No. 73,123.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH B. MURRAY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Folding Stands for Portable Heaters, of which the following is a specification.
The invention is a folding stand for portable heaters, and consists in the construction hereinafter set forth, whereby the device may be applied to a fuel receptacle, such as the can containing solidified alcohol now in common use, and when not so applied may be folded into small and compact form.
The device is made practically in but two parts pivoted together, and is, therefore, of cheap and easy manufacture.
In the accompanying drawingsFigure 1 is a side elevation of. my folding stand for portable heaters, showing the pivoted arm carrying the support for the object to be heated in upright position. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of the same, showing the pivoted arm in folded position.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
The device as here shown is constructed to receive a cylindrical fuel receptacle A. A band of metal is bent preferably in ringform, as shown at B, to receive said receptacle, and its end portions form parallel members of a projecting arm C, the said members being united preferably at their ends at D. An arm E having rounded corners is pivoted at F between the members of arm 0, and carries a support G, substan: tially U-shaped in cross section. The length of arm E is such that when said arm is turned parallel to the members of arm 0, the support G comes within the space bounded by ring B, as shown in Fig. 2. In this way, the device is folded so as to occupy but little space. In use, the arm E is turned into upright position, as shown in Fig. 1, and the receptacle A is inserted in the ring B. The object to be heatedas, for example, a curling iron, as indicated by dotted lines at H, Fig. 1-is laid in the support G, and when so placed extends over the receptacle A in proper position to be heated by the flame from the ignited fuel therein.
I claim:
1. A folding stand for portable heaters, comprising an inclosing band constructed to receive a fuel receptacle, an arm laterally projecting from said band and formed of two parallel members, an arm pivoted between said members, and a support for the object to be heated carried by said pivoted arm: the aforesaid parts being constructed and arranged so that when said pivoted arm isupwardly turned, saidsupport is in position to receive the object to be heated by the fuel receptacle within said band, and when, said fuel receptacle being removed, said pivoted arm is turned parallel to said projecting arm, said support lies in the space inclosed by said band.
2. A folding stand for portable heaters, comprising an inclosing band constructed to receive a fuel receptacle and having its end portions extending straight and parallel to form members of a projecting arm, the said end portions being united, an arm pivoted betweensaid members, and a support for the object to be heated carried by said pivoted arm: the aforesaid parts being constructed and arranged so that when said pivoted arm is upwardly turned, said support is in position to receive the object to be heated by the fuel receptacle within said band, and when, said fuel receptacle being removed, said pivoted arm is turned parallel to said projecting arm, said support lies in the space inclosed by said band.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature in presence of'two witnesses.
' JOSEPH B. MURRAY.
