UNITE PATENT FFIQE.
GEORGE W. THOMPSON, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, ASSIGNOB, T JOE WOLF, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
HEATER METALLIC COMES AND CURLING-IRONS.
Application filed May 7, 1915.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Indianapolis, county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Heater for Metallic Combs and Curling-Irons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to an improved heater for metallic combs and curling irons, designed so as to be simple and cheap in construction, readily portable, and thoroughly eitlicient in practical use.
My invention is fully described and illustrated in the following specification and accompanying drawings, and the novel features thereof specified in the claim annexed to the said specification.
My improved heater for metallic combs and curling irons is represented in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of heater with the lid closed. Fig. 2 is the end elevation of the heater, with thelid, closed. Fig. 3 is a plan of the heater with the lid closed. Fig. A shows a cross section of the heater at line H in Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a side elevation with lid raised and shifted to a resting position, holding comb or curling iron. Fig. 6 is an end elevation showing comb in position. Fig. 7 is plan showing lid shifted to rest position ready to receive curling iron.
A represents the base or container of the heater, made preferably of aluminum or other desirable metal, which may be made in suitable dimensions.
B represents a cavity in the container A, filled with asbestos or other suitable material, to be saturated with alcohol or other suitable combustible for heating metal combs or curling irons.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 18, I916.
Serial No. 26,628.
C represents legs on the container A, one at each of the four corners of the container.
D is a lid adjustably hinged at F to the container A, so that when the lid is raised to the position shown in Figs. 5 and 6,'it may he slid upon its hinges, as shown in Fig. 5, so that the racks E of the lid do not register with the slots G, but rest upon the container A as shown in Figs. 5 and 6. In this position the comb or curling iron Il may be placed on the racks E over the ligl'ited container A, and when heated to the proper degree, the comb or curling iron may be removed and the flame extinguished by ad justing the lid D on its hinges F until the racks E register with the slots G, when the lid will, by force of gravity, assume the closed position as shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4, thereby extinguishing the flame from the receptacle B.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a curling iron and metal-comb heater, the combination of a container formed with a cavityadapted to contain asbestos saturated With a liquid fuel, and with slots adjacent to the ends of said cavity, and an adjustable lid provided with curling iron and metal comb supporting racks on its under side, said slots being adapted to receive said rack when the lid is closed.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name hereto in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEORGE W. THOMPSON.
