Description

A. HOLSTE.
SHIRT.
APPLICATION FILED OCT.
Patented Feb. 29, 1916.
AUGUST HOLSTE, OF BIELEFELD, GERMANY.
SHIRT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 29, 1916.
Application filed October 14, 1911. Serial No. 654,733.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUST HoLsTE, a
many, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shirts, of which the following is a specification.
Serial No. 63l984 From my application a. soft shirt has become lmown which has an opening leaving the breast and the neck completely free. This arrangement offers the advantage that the wearer of the shirt can wash his breast without moistening the shirt, a further advantage being that a perfect ventilation is obtained with a perfect fit of the shirt. WVith this shirt it is however difiicult to use detachable shirt bosoms without shoulder pieces and neck band as otherwise the collar cannot be buttoned to the shirt. According to this invention a small neck band is arranged at the rear part of the opening of the shirt, the height of the neck band gradually decreasing toward the front ends.
In the accompanying drawings the improved shirt is shown.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the shirt which shows the back slightly lifted in order to better show the neck band. Fig. 2 is a section on line II of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings the shirt has a large opening 0? similar to the opening of the shirt described in my application Serial No. 634934. At the rear part 6 of the opening a small short neck band f is arranged which gradually decreases in height toward Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the its front ends 9, g. This neck band can have a button hole It or a button in order to permit the buttoning of the collar.
The neck opening communicates with the breast opening. The removable bosom c is provided with a neck band portion c which fits into the aforesaid neck band section 7 of the shirt. The neck band sections f and z are slidable on each other where they overlap whereby the neck band composed of these two sections can be adjusted to suit any size collar without buckling of the neck band and consequently without danger of discomfort and injury to the wearer.
A shirt having a breast opening therein, and a neck opening in communication therewith, a removable bosom fitted in the breast opening of said shirt, a neck band section secured to the shirt at the rear of the neck opening and gradually tapering at its opposite ends and merging into the material at the edges of said breast opening at the juncture of the neck and breast openings, a neck band section secured to the removable bosom and having terminal portions fitting into the neck band section of the shirt, said neck band sections being slidable to and from each other, whereby said neck band can be adjusted to suit any sized collar.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
' AUGUST HOLSTE.
