To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS ELLEBREOHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Razors, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in razors, one object of the invention being the 0 provision of.means for preventing rust and at the same time rendering the blade antiseptic.
A further object of the present invention is to provide in an ordinary razor means 5 mounted in the handle for applying a rust preventive to the cutting edge of the blade, so that the blade will be automatically protected when in closed position.
In the accompanying drawings :F igure l is a side elevation of a razor with a portion of one member of the handle broken away, showing the present invention installed. Fig. 2 is aseetion taken on line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views, showing a modified form of attaching the lubricant and antiseptic supplying member.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral 5 designates the usual two piece handle, and .6 the blade.
In Figs. 1 and 2, the two 7, are attached to the inner pieces of the handle by means of the fastening devices 8, which may be rivets, or in fact any device that will secure them properly in absorbent strips faces of the two I place. Each strip is of sufficient length to permit the cutting edge of the blade 6, to
be impinged between the parallel and con tacting faces 9, the material of the strips being slightly yieldable, as well as absorbent.
rust preventing fluid, such as a high grade oil, either with or without an antiseptic is placed upon the strips 7, so that when the blade is closed Within the handle, the fluid will be supplied to the cutting edges and both sides of the razor. By this means, the blade is prevented from rusting, and the consequent roughening of the sides and cutting edge is prevented.
In the modified form shown in Figs. 3 and 4, the absorbent strip 10, is resiliently attached to the inner side of the handle piece,
by means of one or more of the resilient supports 11, one end of which is anchored in the aperture upon the outside of the handle piece, while the free end 13 is embedded within the strip.
What I claim, as new, is
In a razor, a split handle, a pair of absorbent strips removably fitted within the split of the handle against opposed inner faces, said handle having apertures in the sides thereof, and resilient clips anchored in the strips, and having hook ends detachably engaged in the apertures for removably holding the strips interiorly of the handle.
