HAIR-CTITTING COMB AND RAZOR GUARD.
Application filed March 26, 1921. Serial No. 455,953.

Be 1t known that I, GscAR H. McCononoi-rnr, a citlzen of the United States, and
,residing in the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have invented a new and useful l-Iair-Cutting Comb and. Razor Guard.
My invention relates to improvements in razor guards as applied to cutting hair with a razor and the objects of my invention are first, to protect and prevent any object other than the hair to be cut from coming in contact with the razor; second, to control and regulate the length of the cut.
I attain these objects by having a vertical opening, longitudinally through the teeth and structure of the comb. the edges of the teeth on one side being diagonal with the edges of the teeth on the other side 01 the comb, with vortices at their points, and the vertical slot extending through said diagonal edges and parallel with the other edges of the teeth ot the comb, inserting a razor blade therein, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings; in which Fig. 1. is a view of the comb A. with blade B and clip C partially inserted therein; Fig. 2. is a sectional view of the end or any tooth of the comb A, and of blade B and clip C. Fig 3. is the blade 13: Fig. at is the clip, vertical view; and Fig 5 is a horizontal view of the clip, open.
Inserting the blade, held between the jaws of the clip, within the comb, I protect the blade and prevent any object, other than the hair to be cut, from coming in contactwith its edge, without in any manner interfering with its free contact with the hair, but rather facilitating the same by holding the hair securely in place while being cut. By placing the razor blade within the vertical opening longitudinally through the teeth, so that its cutting edge is alined with the diagonal edges of the teeth. and at an angle therewith and at a distance from the ends of the teeth of the comb, the length of the cut can be governed by the angle at which the comb is held with the ends of the teeth against the scalp. 7
I claim in a hair cutting comb and razor guard;
1. The con'ibination of a razor blade with a comb: said comb being a rigid structure, having teeth right angle triangle in cross section and provided with a vertical slot in the hypotenuse adapted to receive and retain a razor blade with its cutting edge alined in said slot.
A comb of rigid structure having one edge of the teeth bevelled, a vertical open ing in said bevelled edge longitudinally throughout the length of the comb, adapted to hold a razor blade with cutting edge a distance from he points of the teeth.
3. A guard for a cutting member, consisting of a rigid structure the lower portion of which is substantiallv triangular-in cross section and provided with a slot in one side, to receive such cutting member.
