UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
KENNETH L. HEATH AND LOUIS SCHCEL, F EDMONDS, WASHINGTON; SAID SCI-IOEL ASSIGNOR TO HAIR Application filed June 4 The present invention relates to a hair snap adapted for use to take care of all hair troubles, and particularly for holding hair looks which require support.
An important object of the invention is to provide a hair snap which may be quickly and easily fixed in the hair, and particularly bobbed hair, for holding back locks of hair which often fall down over the eyes and forehead.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a hair snap of this nature which may be constructed of material the same color as the hair so that the hair snap will be invisible.
A still further important object of the invention is to provide a hair snap of this nature which is exceedingly simple in its construction, inexpensive to manufacture, strong, durable and further well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
lVith the above and numerous objects in view as will appear as the description pro coeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing z- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hair snap embodying the features of our invention, and
Figure 2 is an edge elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that designates a bar which has a very slight longitudinal curve; another bar (3 has one end merging with one end of the bar 5 as at 7 and extends over the bar 5. The bar 6 is on the convex side of the bar 5. The bar 6 is curved slightly so as to be substantially ogee in formation. An extension 8 extends from the free end of the bar 5 and leans thereover as is indicated to advantage in Figure 2, thereby forming a member having its terminal in the path of movement of the terminal of the arm 6. This terminal of the extension 8 is beveled SAID HEATH.

as is indicated at 9. It will thus be seen that the bar 6 may be moved from the open position shown in Figure 1 to the closed position in Figure 2 at which time the terminals of the bar 6 will snap past the terminals of the extension 8, the bevel 9 aiding in this opera tion. This construction allows the device to be readily and easily engaged in the hair, and prevents its accidental dislodgement.
The device is constructed of suitable resillent or springy material, and may be made in various colors.
It is thought that the construction, operation, use, and advantages of the invention will now be clearly understood without a more detailed description thereof. It is apparent that nun'ierous changes in the details of construction, in the sizes, in the materials, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A device of the class an elongated arcuate bar, an elongated ogee shaped bar, one end of the first bar merging with one end of the second bar sothat the bars extend in the same general direction with their free ends normally sprung from each other and with the convex side of the first bar adjacent the second bar, the free end of the first bar being provided with an extension leaning over upon itself and having a beveled terminal which is in the path of movement of the terminal of the second bar whereby the terminal of the second bar may snap past the terminal of the. eXtension for closing the device.
In testimony whereof we aliix our signatures.
