Description

JOHN EBAUM] CURTAIN FIXTURE 117036 FlGl L v1 w a a L x .m W N W m x m. A m .U Q
PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN E. BAUM, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 117,038, dated July 18, 1871.
i To all whom it may concern:
slot of an ordinary bracket, and confined in its adjusted position by means of a catch on one end of the slide, which engages with the teeth of racks at the sides of the slot, the construction and arrangement of the several parts being such that the said slide may be adjusted and held at any desired part of the slot to take up the slack of the curtain-cord, leaving the spring connected with the holder the only function to perform of giving elasticity to the cord.
In the accompanying drawing which makes a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation, partly in section, of the improved device on an enlarged scale. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the bracket A. Fig. 3 is an isometrical view of the adjustable slide B, COI'dhO1(I6I' O, and spring D detached from the bracket A. Fig. 4 is a like view of the adjustable slide B.
Like letters in all the figures indicate the same parts.
A is an ordinary bracket, which has a vertical slot, to, and duplicate racks b b at the sides of the same. B is an adjustable slide, which is provided with a catch, d, that engages with the racks I) I) when the slide is brought to the proper position to take up the slack of the curtain-cord. O is the cord-holder, which has a straight part, c, that slides in the opening f( seen in Fig. 4) of the flange g of the adjustable slide B.
The slide B is placed in the proper position to draw the curtain-cord to its proper degree of tightness, and the spring D of the holder yields to the tension of the cord to produce a free and easy action of the same.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the bracket A having racks b 1), adjustable slide B, sliding cord-holder C, and spiral spring D, constructed and arranged in relation to each other, substantially in the manner and for the purpose above set forth.
In testimony that the above is my invention I have hereunto set my hand and aflixed my seal this 15th day of June, 1870.
