Description

H.' POLL'EY.
i Improvement in- CurtainFixtures. l 'N0. 131,299, Patented Sep. l0, 1872.
@mi e rl 1 ltllesus Inventur U ITE STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY POLLEY, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, ASSIGNOR TO HENRY POLLEY AND ANTHONY ROSENFIELD, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPRovEMENT IN euRTAm-Fsxrunes.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l3l,299, dated September 10, 1872.
SPuomIoATIoN. To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRYPOLLEY, of San Francisco city and county, State of California, have invented a Curtain- Fixture; 'and I do hereby declare the following description and accompanying drawing are sufficient to enable any person skilled in the art or science to which it mest nearly appertains to make and use my said invention without further invention or experiment.
The object of my invention is to provide an improvement in that class of devices which are employed to receive the lower part of a cord such asis used to raise and lower curtains; and it consists in a novel construction by which I am enabled to easily and accurately adjust the pulley to different or varying lengths of the cord and retain it securely at any point.
Referring to the accompanying drawing for a more complete explanation of my invention, Figure l is a vertical section. Fig. 2 is a front view.
A is the portion which is screwed to the window-casing, and it is provided with guides on each side, as shown. The slide B is short, and
has a groove in each side which moves upon the guides. This slide is extended out into a thumb-piece or lever, C, and a spring, D, is fastened below, which rests on the bottom ot' the part A and acts as a lever. The eect of this lever is to cramp or bind the short slat in the slide B against the guides and then hold it securely wherever it may be placed. By the use of the thumb piece the pressure can be relieved and the slide moved as may be desired. Other forms of springs may be used as a spiral, but the one shown is deemed most convenient. E is the pulley around which the cord passes.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,.is-
The short grooved slide B, with its extended thumb piece C and the lever-spring D, in combination with the guides on the stationary piece A, substantially as and for the purpose above described.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal.
