Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
CHARLES ROBIN, OF CHESTER, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 112,383, dated March 7, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:` y
Be it known that I, `GHARLEs ROBIN, of Paisley, Scotland, residingin Chester, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented `a new Improvement in Curtain-Fixtures 5 and I do hereby declareV the following, when taken in `connection with the t accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents, in`
Figure `1, a front view p Fig. 2, a front view with the end inserted",l andin Fig. `3, a vertical central section.
This invention relates to an improvement in that part of curtain-fixtures designed to hold the cord in any desired position; and consists in the construction of a chambered plate to beattached to the WindoW-jamb or at other convenient point, the said plate perforated for the cord to pass down into the chamber, then around a bearing in the chamber, upand out through a V-shaped slit which holds the cord.
A is the plate, of any desired form or design, and made from any suitable material, so as to form a chamber, B.
A perforation, a, in the upper part leads the cord to a bearing, d, below, and around the said bearing the cord passes up and out through a V-shaped slit, c, as seen in Figs. 2 and 3.
The tassel on the cord is of sufficient Weight to draw the Vcord down into the V, which creates so much friction on the cord that itis held in any desired position.
To adjust the curtain, raise the cord into the broader portion of the slit, as in Fig. 3, when it may be drawn to raise the curtain or slackened to lower the curtain.' Y
I claim as my invention- The herein-described curtain-fixture, consisting of the chambered plate A, constructed with the perforation a, bearing` d, and V- shaped slit c, substantially as specified.
CHARLES ROBIN.
